Hey Friends,
Starting in August I'll be sharing another transformational practice that has brought so many big shifts to my own life that I just have to share it with everyone I know! If this speaks to you, please join me in August for a Qigong Flow series ๐
-A blending of Yoga & Qigong for health of mind, body & soul-
Most of us have heard of yoga and how it benefits us, mind, body and soul. Qigong however is a little less heard of here in the west but has just as much to offer! Hereโs a bit more info on this ancient practice...
Qigong (pronounced Chee-gong) is an ancient Chinese form of gentle exercise and healing techniques that are suitable for everyone. The practice Involves meditation, mindfulness, breathing and repeated movements to achieve its many benefits.
Qi = Life force or vitality
Gong = Skill or practice
So Qigong roughly translates to:
A skill practiced over time that increases and/or restores our vitality
Developing the life force or the chi, is the focus of Taoism, Chinaโs original religion/philosophy. The Taoists are the same people who brought acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, bone-setting, and the yin/yang concept to the world. This is roughly a 3000 year old system of healing that truly works!!
Qigong was primarily developed as an exercise to keep people healthy and reduce tension. Qigong is practiced by people of all spiritual and religious beliefs. Although the basis of Qigong is Taoism, one of the primary Eastern religions, you do not need to learn it or believe Taoist philosophy to practice. Qigong can be practiced by people of any religion or belief system!!
Some benefits of the practice are:
- Reduces stress
- Balances emotions
- Improves sleep quality
- Strengthens organs and nerves
- Helps prevent injury to joints, ligaments and bones
- Speeds recovery time from injury and operations
- Over time it can reduce or even eliminate chronic pain
Qigong and Yoga are both all around great practices for health maintenance, healing and increasing vitality.
