✨ Learning Through Play! ✨
Today the children had so much fun exploring movement and music while playing with glow sticks! As they waved the glowing colors through the air and moved along to the music, they were learning important skills in a playful way.

Activities like this help children develop rhythm, coordination, and body awareness while strengthening both fine and gross motor skills. Dancing, waving, and moving their glow sticks encourages creativity, self-expression, and confidence as they explore different ways their bodies can move to music.

It was wonderful to see their excitement as the room filled with glowing colors, laughter, and music! 🎶✨ Learning truly comes alive when children can move, explore, and have fun together.

✨ Little Minds, Big Imaginations ✨

There’s something magical about children listening to stories. When kids sit and really listen, their minds light up — they picture the characters, imagine the worlds, and start interpreting what’s happening in their own unique way. Storytime isn’t just quiet time… it’s brain-building time.

Through listening to stories, children develop:
📚 Stronger listening skills
🌈 A richer imagination
💭 The ability to interpret meaning and emotions
🗣️ Early language and communication skills

And creativity doesn’t stop with stories!

Watching girls get inventive with alternative materials to create their own “nail art” is such a powerful reminder that creativity doesn’t need fancy tools. Whether it’s paper, leaves, stickers, or bits and bobs from around the house, children learn to:
🎨 Think creatively
🧠 Solve problems
✨ Express their individuality
💖 Feel proud of what they create

Our OSC kids had an awesome PD Day adventure at the Fieldhouse! 🙌
They enjoyed organized soccer, bouncy balls, and a lively game of dodgeball — lots of movement, laughter, and big smiles all around!

Active play is so important for children. It helps build physical strength, confidence, teamwork, and social skills, all while having fun and burning off energy in a positive way. Days like these give our kids the chance to work together, try new activities, and grow through play 💙

🚒🔥 Fire Safety Day at OSC! 🔥🚒

Today we had some very special visitors — our local Fire Department came to spend time in our classroom! The children learned all about fire and life safety skills, including what firefighters do, how to stay safe, and what to do in an emergency.

After our classroom visit, we headed outside for the most exciting part… seeing the fire truck up close and in person! 🚒 The lights, the equipment, and meeting the firefighters made it such a memorable experience for everyone.

Teaching children about fire safety in a calm, hands-on way helps build confidence and knowledge that can truly make a difference. We are so grateful for our local firefighters for helping our children learn how to stay fire safe! ❤️🔥

Another successful Professional Development Day with our Out of School Program crew! 🙌

Friday’s PD day was all about the kids. With the extra time together, we focused on supporting the children in our Out of School Program through engaging activities, connection, and intentional care. The day gave us the opportunity to slow things down, be present, and really tune in to the needs, interests, and energy of the group.

These days are a great reminder that learning doesn’t always happen in a classroom or training room—sometimes it happens alongside the children, through play, observation, and meaningful interactions. It was a positive, busy, and rewarding day, and the kids truly made it a success.

Low numbers of kids today + cold weather + a broken puzzle = a perfect opportunity for creativity!

Instead of letting it slow us down, we turned it into a moment of discovery. Out came the paint, the curiosity, and the imagination — and just like that, we had a mini science and art exploration happening.

“Love you to pieces” turned into discovery painting for the win!

These additions have been thoughtfully chosen to align with the interests and developmental needs of the children in our program. Each new center is designed to keep them fully engaged while supporting the growth of important skills such as creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and independence.

Early learning is not about rushing children into academics — it’s about discovery, connection, and building a strong foundation for life.

Every moment a child spends exploring, asking questions, moving their body, or engaging in play is a moment their brain is wiring for confidence, curiosity, and emotional safety. Early learning is where social skills are formed, language blossoms, problem-solving begins, and a child learns how to trust themselves and the world around them.

Discovery-based learning allows children to lead with their interests. Whether it’s stacking blocks, splashing in water, listening to stories, caring for animals, or pretending to run a little shop — these experiences are not “just play.” They are meaningful learning moments that support cognitive development, emotional regulation, creativity, and resilience.

🧸 Teddy Bear Picnic – January 30th 🧸

We’re excited to announce that January 30th will be our Teddy Bear Picnic Day! Children are invited to bring their favourite teddy bear or stuffed friend to daycare for a day filled with cozy fun, imaginative play, and special picnic activities.

We’ll be incorporating stories, music, and themed activities to make the day extra memorable. Please remember to label all stuffies and choose one that can comfortably spend the day at daycare.

We can’t wait to picnic with our teddy bear friends!
