So excited to finally be graduated from my 1000+ hr C-IAYT Yoga Therapist program!
I’m beyond grateful to so many students who were my greatest teachers through their case studies over the years. Thank you for cracking open the most vulnerable parts of yourselves so that we could explore, heal, and learn to look with a clear mind.
Currently, I’m looking for a small studio and private practice space in Calgary or Canmore and will be providing trauma-informed small group classes as well as building a private yoga therapy practice.
For now - the cascading mountains of Treaty 7 land (Kananaskis) are my home and I invite you all to contact me for booking you and your friends a retreat into nature.
Will I see you in the valley this summer? 🏔️✨

Fasting for Health Step 1
🌱 Planning and Research
🌱 Reading classical texts like Gheranda Samhita or Hatha Pradipika to grasp a deeper understanding of physical cleansing and the care needed to prepare for entering as well as exiting cleansing practices.
🌱 Take a Dosha Type quiz online. Find out what your balance of Vata Pitta and Kapha are in order to tailor the fast to your specific constitution. Vata-dominant people may not be suited to a 3-day water fast for example; they may choose to do monofasting or 1 meal a day. If you have health conditions or are on medication, speak to your specialist about a 3 day fast or consult with a C-IAYT Yoga Therapist about what type of fasting could be beneficial to you. Some conditions benefit greatly from fasting such as diabetes BUT it is all dependant on the individual and their dosha.
🌱 Look at your calendar over the next two months and find 3 days (or at least 2) which are free from work responsibilities and social obligations. Fasting should be done when you have the time and space to experience and reflect on what comes up for you without stress of needing to “perform” in work life.
🌱 Think about what you will do with all the extra time you have when not preparing, cooking, or eating food! Plan for days to be filled with restful and creative things like enjoying the outdoors, mindful movement to keep detoxification flowing, relaxing, meditation, chanting, breathing, writing, music, reading, napping etc. Planning for a fast also includes time for reducing certain foods before the fast as well as re-introducing foods slowly post-fast.
🌱 This is a delicate process! But so worth it. Make sure you’re able to commit to nourishing the newly cleansed digestive tract in the 2 weeks following fasting.

“You can prepare for the class, but get ready for the party” 😂 Yesterday I relearned the meaning of this first teaching Deep gave me years ago.
This woman’s corporate retreat session was a big step for me and a big learning. I learned to say yes no matter how large the number is. I learned to reach out to other studios for equipment to make it happen. I learned to use AV equipment and hear my voice chanting through speakers. I learned to value my time outside of teaching spent co-ordinating and to not be afraid to ask for fair compensation. I learned to never fear the empty classroom, the beauty is in your efforts toward the opportunity.
But mostly I learned that you can prepare, organize, and anticipate all you like…your group of 35 might decide to have a wild party the night before and turn into a class of 17 or even 10. And you just laugh and give everything you have and more anyway because those 10 people showed a beautiful commitment to themselves on a wicked wine hangover.
Grateful for the hardcore 10 🙌❤️✨

“Yes, the Yoga system, the individual-oriented approach, is tedious, more elaborate, and more time consuming. But, definitely it is specific, more precise, the most comprehensive - and every human being deserves this.” Dr. N. Chandrasekaran M.B.B.S., Dip in Yoga (KYM)
Yoga has been defined in many ways as union with wholeness, remembering our source, and going beyond mind to abide in our natural state of pure awareness. While the purpose of classical yoga is to manifest our total potential, yoga therapy is concerned with clearing symptoms of disease and freeing individuals from pre-disposing factors which lead to their imbalances.
First we pacify and relieve symptoms of the presenting problem (insomnia, hypertension, low back pain) and then we go deeper to address the cause of that problem, restore balance, and strengthen the whole constitution to prevent future occurrences. The tools of yoga are very powerful and should be chosen carefully to create a desired effect in a specific area of the body, to a very unique individual. Yoga should be applied in an individualized way with precision like surgery. A doctor would never prescribe the same treatment to 20 patients in the same room and in that way we should seek out one-on-one yoga treatment if we want transformation as opposed to temporary relief.
Of course, weekly drop-in group yoga classes have a essential and beneficial place in health maintenance and fostering a sense of community. However, there comes a time when folks desire to develop a deeply personal home practice or are confronted with a health challenge, are healing from injury, illness or psychological trauma which is requires one-on-one observation and guidance.
