Cold weather can make managing chronic conditions like asthma, heart conditions and arthritis more challenging, but with a few extra precautions, you can stay safe and healthy this winter.

🧣🧤 Keep warm and dress in layers to protect against frostbite and hypothermia.
💊 Maintain your medication routine—don’t let winter disrupt your schedule.
🏡 Stay active indoors if it’s too icy outside; gentle movement helps circulation and overall health.
🩺 Monitor symptoms closely and reach out to your healthcare provider if anything changes.

Ho, Ho, Holiday Stress!
The holidays can be a joy-filled time for many, and for others, it can be quite stressful. In fact, 52% of Canadians report feeling an increase in depression, anxiety or loneliness during the holiday season, which makes it important to be proactive about your mental health.
Recognize if you are feeling overwhelmed by the ‘to do’s’ and if so, consider setting a boundary; ask for help, or say no to an invite, so you can say yes to your self-care. If you are feeling isolated, it may be worth doing something kind for yourself, like making yourself a nice meal or finding others who are wanting to connect through volunteering or community groups.
If you find yourself struggling, know that help is available:
• Local walk-in mental health support is available daily at both Banff and Canmore hospitals from 2-9pm
• or call or text the 24hr Calgary Distress line 403-266-4357.
Our Mental Health Clinicians for short-term support for mild mental health concerns.
To book call our office @ 403-675-3000 or complete this form for a call back https://bowvalleypcn.ca/how-to-book-a-consultation/
