Meet Andy!

Andy is originally from a small town in Bavaria, South Germany. He studied optometry in Munich and moved to Canada first in 2017. He has been calling Canmore home since 2022, and today marks his official 2 years with us at Viewpoint!

Andy is our contact lens practitioner, if you wear contact lenses, you have likely met Andy, he does all things contact lenses. He is also a licensed optician, he is a lab technician and assists with the on-site retina clinic days.

When asked what he loves most about working here, Andy said he loves the small town vibes and the amazing team he gets to work with at Viewpoint!

When not working you’ll find him enjoying everything our beautiful home has to offer; he has cycled more than 5000km across Western Canada! He also enjoys running, hiking, canoeing, snowboarding and snowshoeing! You’ll usually find his beautiful pup Bowie by his side on all of his adventures as well!!

Make sure you say hi to Andy next time you’re in!!

👕✨ Clothing Drive for Kids in Malawi! ✨👕

We’re collecting gently used children’s clothing for Canada Vision Care’s upcoming mission trip to Malawi, Africa! 💛

The clothing will go directly to an orphanage and local children in need, alongside a shipping container full of donated eye care equipment. That same container will even be repurposed into a building for the optometry school Canada Vision Care has built — amazing, right?

Meet Jessi! 🤗

Jessi is originally from Brantford, Ontario! She has been working here at Viewpoint since 2021 as an Optometric Assistant and last year she achieved her Ocular Hygienist certification.
Jessi does a lot of the administrative duties, the preliminary testing prior to seeing your optometrist, she assists with our ophthalmology and on-site retina clinics, and she performs in-office cleaning treatments of the lash line for demodex blepharitis treatment!

When asked what she loves most about working here she said that it is incredibly challenging to narrow it down, but she is especially fascinated by the medical aspects of the job and assisting the doctors in any way she can. She also said that she loves interacting with all of you!!

When not working, you’ll find Jessi paddle boarding, hiking, ice climbing or spending quality time with her beautiful pup Milli 🐶

Make sure you say hi to Jessi next time you come in! :)

❄️Winter is coming, and with that we are collecting winter clothing donations for the annual Mînî Thnî community Jacket Racket drive! ❄️

Clear out your closets and help support a good cause. All donations go directly to community members who are in need!

Bring your items to our office at 124-1160 Railway Ave, Canmore! We work out of the Health Centre in Mînî Thnî Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be bringing all donations as they come 🙂

A couple of weeks ago we attended the annual Alberta Association of Optometrists conference in Banff!
We are pleased to share that our very own, Joanne, was awarded optician of the year!!
This award is beyond well deserved. Joanne is the most kind, empathetic, hard working individual! We are so proud of her!

This Friday, July 26th we are celebrating our 25th anniversary!! To celebrate we are having a ONE DAY ONLY sale! This Friday all frames and lenses will be 25% off!!!!

Please join us for a fun filled day, with raffle prizes, snacks, treats from , cold refreshments, and coffee from !!

We will be hosting a food drive as well for the food bank in Mini Thnî, if you have any non-perishables please bring them in for donation, each donation will get you an extra entry to the raffle draw.

🌳🌳24 TREES PLANTED!! 🌳🌳

Did you know you can recycle your contact lenses❔♻️

We have a drop box at our front door for all of your used contact lenses and contact lens packaging! Once the bin is full we bag it all up and send it away to be properly recycled. With each bag we fill we are keeping your contact lenses out of a landfill, and the company also plants a tree for each bag that is sent back!
Today we are sending back 24 full bags, that means 24 new trees planted!!!! 🌳🌳🌳

You can either use a bag of your own from home, or simply ask us for one of the bags that are used to be sent back!!

A successful spring SAIT student season!!

First we had the lovely Diana, who was here for a 4 week optometric assistant practicum! Diana was a tremendous asset to the team and she has successfully secured a job working as an optometric assistant in Calgary!

Next we were lucky enough to have two optician students for 8 weeks. Florencio was a first year student who got to experience his first taste of working in the optometry field! Florencio will now go back to SAIT for his second year of studies.
We also had Sydney, who was a second year student. She was a great asset to the team and now demonstrates all the skills to find a job as an optician in the real world!!

Thank you to the three of them for joining our team for a short period of time. We wish all of you the best of luck in the future.
