Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

Life on the land can be rewarding, but it can also feel isolating and overwhelming. Long hours, financial stress, and uncertainty in farming take a toll—often in silence.

Let this day be a reminder: you are not alone. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not a sign of weakness. Checking in on your neighbours, family, and fellow farmers can make all the difference.

Together, we can break the silence and build a community of care and hope.

Taking this training last spring was very helpful to be more prepared in my community. Being informed, aware and creating a framework in welcoming farmers broadened the perspectives needed to honour the work they do and what we are capable of together.

Farmers are strong—but they shouldn’t have to carry it all alone. 🌾💚
Ag Informed Therapy™ helps therapists understand the real-life challenges of farm communities through a 4-tier, 12-module course. It includes 12 continuing ed credits, and a downloadable PDF to support learning and connection.

Let’s build care that actually fits rural life.

📣 5 Mental Health Tips for Farmers This Spring 🌱

Farming's tough. Here are a few tips on how to take care of you, not just the land.

1️⃣ Pick Your Battles
You won't get it all done. Prioritize what truly matters today. The rest can wait.

2️⃣ Take a 5-Minute Break
Tailgate. Water bottle. Sit. Breathe. You’re not lazy—you're human.

3️⃣ Talk to Someone Who Gets It
Neighbour, seed guy, cousin—someone who understands the grind. Farming is lonely, connection helps.

4️⃣ Get Off the Farm (Yes, Really)
Coffee run, church, feed store. Doesn’t matter—change of scenery clears the mind.

5️⃣ Don’t Tough It Out Alone
If you’re burning out or feeling off, talk to someone. Help is strength, not weakness. Reach out to us here at NFMHA. We can put you in touch with an Ag Informed Therapist.

👨‍🌾 Take care of your land, but don’t forget to take care of yourself too.
📲 Save & share with a farmer who needs this today.

Connecting with others is being vulnerable—many of us work too hard at overcompensating and trying to be liked. Instead if you can focus on presence and not expectations about them, it can result in some of the best interactions and relationships of your life.

Awareness is the first step to safety.

Stalking is a serious red flag and should never be ignored. If you or someone you know is experiencing stalking, it's crucial to take action early to protect your safety. Trust your instincts, document everything, and reach out for support. You deserve to feel safe and empowered. 💜
