An incredibly valuable article which I have been reinforcing with all my yoga students for over 10 years. So many benefits and especially a read that can hopefully bring awareness for any human beings. Health and immunity boost through nasal breathing and reduced illness guaranteed.
In a simple way, nose 👃 is for breathe and mouth 👄 is for eating and our breathe plan-B.
Breathe is our primary vital function and nasal breathing is our ultimate goal in conscious breathing for an ultimate body mind spirit connection!

Bon matin Ă  tous/Good morning to all!

Feeling a little under the weather these days with the change in temperature? Abused from a little too much food or wine over the summer?

If you're like me, yes. And...I've just been fighting a cold for the last week and it brought awareness all of a sudden that I needed to take better care of myself to increase my immune system in different ways and one of them is to kick-start my body.

How?

This morning is the start of my little 3 DAY CLEANSE. I actually love this one by Dr.Oz. It's simple, short and very efficient. The great thing about it is that you won't feel starved. It's actually real food and a lot of it in one day! You'll feel light and energized instantly! And sorry to say but after 2 or 3 days, your stool will have never been so healthy (the way it should be!)

Your morning smoothies are your prebiotics and it's good to also take the probiotic if you can (but if you don't have them handy, don't stop yourself from enjoying this 3-day treat)

The evening baths are a pure bliss at the end of the day and allows you to completely unwind, let go and just be!

If you're not up to it, or simply want to use the smoothies randomly / once daily, that's also really good and a great intake of good nutrients!

Lower back pain....does that ring a bell?
If you are working long hours at a desk, sit for too long in the course of the day, chances are the above will manifest in a big "pain in the back!"
Back pain (Spinal Health) is a health epidemic and has been misunderstood and mistreated for too long. This is one of the situation that a pill just won't fix and I am pleased to share the New Guidelines for Lower Back Pain by The American College of Physicians...Massage/Yoga as an alternative approach...pills last resort!
Time to renew with our mind/body connection and how it really works.

We tend to focus so much on our physical body and how it manifests itself instead of looking further and deeper where the root cause lies.

BREATHING FOR RUNNERS!

I am currently doing an anatomy course with Leslie Kaminoff's Yoga Anatomy and "Yogic Breathing for Runners" was part of some of the discussions.

What Leslie clearly explains is that "the natural thing to do while you're running is to not play around with your breath but to let the activity call for the pattern required to provide the energy you need to perform the activity", in this case - running.

So it's best not to focus on the mechanics of your breath but rather focus on the form and technique of the activity itself.

Where I find that yogic breath or pranayama (breathing techniques) can help runners or any other athletes, is that it will guide you towards creating a new and better breathing pattern, which can enable you to deepen your breath and increase your lung capacity, therefore contributing towards a better performance.

Most of us have not been taught how to breathe properly as our autonomic nervous system takes care of this without the person's conscious effort right? Well, yes and no. Because of this, too many use a poor breathing pattern, which can be responsible for many illnesses or health conditions.

So I would recommend to work on your breathing patterns and capacity on your yoga mat and focus on your form while performing your running or any other sport/activity. They will eventually work in perfect harmony!

A 26 min film on the cutting edge scientific proof behind the incredible benefits of what Yoga can do for us.
If you are one of those who need proof and fact prior to engaging in anything, then you'll be served with the profound evidence found in this video.
Yoga in this modern world has unfortunately been misleading whereby acrobatic poses portrayed by media is giving a distorted image of what yoga really is and can be quite intimidating for most. Mea Culpa to all yoga teachers or practitioners displaying similar images on the web to attract people as it contributes to this misconception and clearly a mistake taken that a recent survey shows that in America, only 10% of the population are yoga adept. If it is not for the ego(ok to promote business), it is clearly not to demonstrate the deeper meaning and purpose of what this powerful practice can offer for the body, mind and soul.
I have had the opportunity to meet the lovely Tao Porchon-Lynch this year, the oldest yoga teacher in the world at 97 years of age. She told me, "I teach the real yoga", and I thought to myself, how beautiful is this. In the western world, we seem to get bored quickly and the focus on asanas is prominent although yoga is so much more and can be applied to various and all populations. Don't get me wrong, if you're new to yoga, it's perfectly fine to start with yoga asanas (postures), it will lead you to a deeper journey of healing and self-transformation along the way.
As mentioned in this video, yoga is now at the cutting-edge in the bio medical modern world. Yoga is not just a hobby or something we do here and there, it's real biological stuff, it has the power to heal and prevent illness and keep you healthy as you age.
Yoga can play on your gene activity, enhance gene activity that is good for you (immunity) and reduce the ones that are not (inflammation). Most diseases are not caused by your genetic background but mostly due to stress and lifestyle. We now know with the available technology that yoga not only works on the cellular level but on the molecular level...from brain activity to physiological and subtle energies residing in and around each and everyone of us.

For anyone out there struggling with their own health or their children's, have a read at this. It's not rocket science although it seems as though we have lost touch with nature and what truly contribute to one's health over time. A few things that are being reinforced and resonated with me is playing in nature and not being scared of getting dirty, avoiding soya and dairy products amongst others. Thanks for sharing Kim! xx

WHAT MAKES A WOMAN CONFIDENT IS HER ABILITY TO CALL UPON HER FEMININE WISDOM

So often in our world we tend to think of strength as a quality that arises from a place of firm determination and a will to succeed no matter the cost. Even though we might want to think of a strong woman as being defined in this way, what really makes a woman confident is her capacity for listening to her true self and being able to call upon her feminine wisdom to any situation that may arise. A woman does not need to step into an assertive role or act like a man in order to be effective at what she does—she simply needs to get in touch with her insight and sense of compassion to truly demonstrate the depth of her strength.

Listening to the feminine side of ourselves may not seem easy at first for this type of energy is something that is often overlooked in many aspects of our everyday lives. If we can connect with this part of who we are, however, we will find that there is an unlimited wellspring of strength available to us. Our capacity to tap into our intuition and listen to our inner guides, to take into account the needs of those around us, and to view a situation with compassion and love are ways that we can show the world the true power that is part of our feminine nature. When we learn to integrate this source of strength into our daily tasks and decision-making, we will find that we can be more flexible and open to the things that happen around us and more receptive to new ideas. Not only will we see the world in a different light, but we will truly start to realize the potential for this form of energy to both empower ourselves and those around us.

As we cultivate our feminine energy we can redefine the meaning of strength. By embracing our feminine power as something that is strong in its own right, we are able to use it with true assurance and determination and draw upon what truly belongs to us.
