Free Yoga Classes for Seniors at the Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Centre

The Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Centre will be offering free access yoga classes for seniors this fall with Jen Ellsworth.

Classes will be held on the following dates:

• Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025
• Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025
• Thursday , Oct. 9, 2025
• Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025
• Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025
• Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025

Classes start at 12:15 p.m. in the Community Centre’s Multipurpose Room. No pre-registration required.

Presented by the Town of Harbour Grace and Earhart’s 50+ Club.

Funding for this initiative has been provided by the Department of Families and Affordability’s Seniors’ Social Inclusion Fund (2025).

This is why I have a sign up and cancellation policy for my classes.

I never adopted the registration of a set number of classes because I wanted to create flexibility for people‘s time and finances

I tried the pay by the class system, but too many times in the early years as a yoga instructor , people would sign up and not commit
Too many times I showed up for a class like today to an empty room
Plus, the vast amount of time and energy to do so for 13 classes per week is just not available

This isn’t just about money
This is about my personal time and how this often affects my family schedule ( as it did this morning)

So have a policy in place that people buy yoga passes with the flexibility to book what they want and when they want to participate. And this policy does require people to pay for classes that cancel without adequate notice or do not come to class.

It’s unfortunate that my necessary policy has people decline coming to my classes, but I have to protect my time and energy!
I am doing my best for what works for both myself and my students

Unfortunately, lately, I’ve been getting a lot of resistance to my policy, but this is why the policy is in place

Today is the prime example of what can happen otherwise
