Almost nine years ago, Shirley and Lawrence made Riverview their home. From the very beginning, they became a special part of our community—always the sweetest couple. In true Riverview style, they even tied the knot here with a memorable “Covid wedding.”

Just over a year ago, Lawrence had to move, and while Shirley visited him as often as she could, they really missed each other. Now we are delighted to share some wonderful news: this week, Shirley and Lawrence will be reunited—just in time to celebrate their wedding anniversary together.

We have missed Lawrence, and we will miss Shirley, but our hearts are full knowing they will finally be together again.

Yesterday, we celebrated Canada Day with our little community and we were thrilled to have some friends and family join us. We also had some special guests: Lawrence came to visit and everyone was thrilled to see him. Donna came and gave us the great news that she will be working with us again!!

Over the years, our Canada Day celebrations at Riverview have become something truly special. Every time, we're reminded how lucky we are to be part of such a warm and wonderful community. The staff bring their energy and joy, the seniors light up the day, and when families join in, it's such fun! It's what community is all about.

On Saturday, May 24th, we celebrated International Tiara Day at Riverview by crowning our wonderful ladies with beautiful tiaras. What a fun way to recognize their grace, strength, and spirit—allowing them to sparkle and embrace the royalty within. It was a reminder that every woman deserves to feel like a queen. Here are a few of our beautiful ladies!

Today, we had the pleasure of having Danielle Rae visit Riverview. Danielle is the NDP candidate in the Lanark Frontenac riding for the 2025 Federal election. Everyone had a great chat, and lots of great questions were asked on a wide variety of topics.

Yesterday was Sadie and Dugan's 10th birthday! We had an awesome little party for them and they loved all the attention. Dugan wore his best tie (well, it's his only tie) and Sadie wore her prettiest skirt (she does have a few since she is a bit of a diva). Stephen and Marilyn got them adorable dog cookies. Karen made them a birthday cake! They wolfed down a piece in seconds flat. Sorry Karen, I know you tried to get a photo, but they were too fast. Paul gave them some treats which they loved. Thank you Alysha for making a last minute birthday cake for the humans!

I am a little late posting Riverview's Christmas photos! Santa came to visit and there was an awesome Christmas dinner as well. As we finish 2024, I want to give a a huge THANK YOU to the staff and all the families and caregivers who bring so much love, care, and support to our seniors every single day. You’re the heart and soul of our community, and we’re so lucky to have you by our side.

Your kindness and dedication mean the world, and together we have made Riverview a true home.
