December brings lights, treats, guests, and decorations, all the things we love, and all the things pets love to investigate.
A few holiday reminders to keep your furry friends safe:

🎄 Keep tinsel, ribbons & ornament hooks out of reach
🍫 Chocolate, grapes, and alcohol = dangerous for pets
🕯️ Be mindful with candles and wagging tails
🌱 Some holiday plants can be toxic, poinsettias, lilies & mistletoe
👨‍👩‍👧 Create a quiet room for anxious pets during gatherings

We want this season to be peaceful, joyful, and healthy for every member of your family, including the four-legged ones.

Manitoba winters arrive quickly, and our pets feel those temperature drops just as much as we do. As December kicks off, here are a few friendly reminders to help keep your furry family members comfortable:

🐾 Limit outdoor time during extreme cold
❄️ Use pet-safe ice melt to protect paws
🧣 Make sure senior pets have warm, cushioned resting spots
💧 Hydration matters in winter too, cold air is drying
🚗 Tap your vehicle hood before starting (outdoor cats may seek warmth)

At St. Claude Veterinary Care, we’re here to help pets stay healthy and protected through the coldest months of the year. If you notice any limping, cracked paws, shivering, or changes in behaviour, come see us, winter can be tough on little bodies.

Manitoba winters are beautiful, but they can be tough on our furry family members.

A few small checks can keep pets safe and comfortable all season long:
❄️ Watch for dry, cracked paws
❄️ Keep outdoor time short in extreme cold
❄️ Update vaccines before holiday boarding or travel

At St. Claude Veterinary Clinic, we’re here to make sure your pets stay healthy from the first snowfall to the last thaw.

How does your pet enjoy winter, snow zoomies or cozy nap-by-the-heater?

Plaque isn’t just a human problem, your pets' dental health affects their overall well-being. 🦷

Did you know untreated dental issues can lead to:
😿 Pain & tooth loss
🐶 Organ damage (yes, it’s connected!)
🪥 Behavioral changes due to discomfort

Preventive dental care can make a huge difference. Brushing, dental chews, and yearly cleanings can help your pet live a longer, healthier life.

As the chill settles in here in St. Claude, don’t forget, our pets feel it too! 🧣🐶 Whether it's frostbitten paws or dry skin from indoor heating, pets need a little extra TLC when the temperature drops.

✔️ Use pet-safe paw balm
✔️ Limit time outside in deep cold
✔️ Consider sweaters for short-haired breeds
✔️ Keep fresh, unfrozen water available

And don't skip those vet checkups, winter is a sneaky time for joint stiffness in older pets. 🐾

Halloween is fun for us, but for pets, it can be overwhelming! Loud noises, doorbells, strange costumes, and candy hazards can cause anxiety or even harm.

🧡 Here’s how to keep your pet calm and safe this spooky season:
🚪 Keep pets indoors during trick-or-treating
🍫 Store candy where paws can't reach
👻 Avoid costumes that restrict breathing or movement
🎧 Create a quiet, safe space to relax

Let’s make Halloween a treat for everyone, including your furry best friend!
