FRED SAMORODIN-poem- TO BE A REFUGEE
To be a refugee
To some is meant “to flee”
But with one life left to live
It is what they have to give
A voice and body to those
Now left behind to bear
Either anger, hate or despair
Which is left to ignite
The deep-down energy to fight
The self-righteous male powers
Claiming their holiness to make us cower
Before such males, all who resist still
Such force of fear to still persist
When the minds and hearts
Of those who understand
That oppression breeds an obsession
To relish power and control
In the beliefs that lack a soul
And ask of us who still can hear
That our voices be made clear
That it is not to those we must now kneel
But to honour others for support
To whom we must now appeal!
