Hi, I’m Aly a holistic birth and Ayurvedic postpartum doula living here on beautiful Prince Edward Island, Canada. I’ve been walking alongside families for almost three years now, and birth work has always felt like a true calling, not a career you simply choose because it sounds nice.

This work asks something of you. It asks you to hold space with reverence, to witness families in their power, their vulnerability, and their transformation. Every birth, every postpartum, every family is completely unique and it’s an honour to meet each one exactly where they are.

My approach blends traditional wisdom, Ayurvedic postpartum care, bodywork, nourishment, and grounded emotional support. I believe deeply in creating a village around new parents, in honouring their rhythms, and in tending to both the physical and the spiritual layers of postpartum.

I’m grateful to do this work, and I’m grateful for every family that welcomes me into their story.

Let’s talk about mung beans the tiny little green gems that Ayurveda has loved for thousands of years.

They may not look like much, but they are absolute powerhouses, especially for postpartum healing.

✨ Why they’re so awesome:
Mung beans are one of the easiest legumes to digest, naturally rich in plant protein, iron, fiber, and gentle warmth. Ayurveda considers them sattvic meaning they’re calming, grounding, and supportive for both the mind and nervous system. They nourish without overwhelming, which is everything a postpartum body needs.

✨ Postpartum support:
Your digestive fire (agni) is at its lowest right after birth. Your tissues are rebuilding, hormones are shifting, and your body is working overtime to repair, replenish, and replenish again.

Mung beans support this beautifully because they:
• Provide steady protein without heaviness
• Are gentler on the gut than lentils or other beans
• Help stabilize blood sugar
• Rebuild tissues (super important for postpartum depletion)
• Support milk production in a balanced way
• Reduce inflammation and ease constipation (a huge win postpartum)

✨ Why soaking matters:
Soaking mung beans isn’t just a cute “from-scratch” thing it’s a digestive game-changer.
When you soak them, you:
• Reduce phytic acid → making the nutrients more available
• Break down the compounds that normally cause gas and bloating
• Soften the bean so it cooks faster and gentler
• Make the whole dish easier for your postpartum belly to process

Ayurveda always teaches: digestibility first. Food only nourishes you if you can absorb it.

✨ How to prepare them for postpartum:
Think warm, soupy, soft, and spice-infused:
• Kitchari
• Mung dal soup with ghee
• Slow-cooked mung + basmati bowls
• Mung bean stews with ginger, turmeric, and cumin

Warm spices, good fats, and soft textures turn mung beans into a deeply healing postpartum staple.

Postpartum Bodywork Magic

When I arrive for a postpartum session, I don’t just bring my hands I bring ritual, intention, and ancient wisdom.

This basket holds the tools I use to support your healing in the tender weeks after birth

- scalp massagers, gua sha stones, and Kansa wand to melt away tension and move stagnant energy
- herbal oils and blends to nourish your body and calm your nervous system
- a warm eye mask and foot soak to ground and restore
- rebozos, belly binds, and traditional touch to help you feel held body, mind, and spirit

Each item serves a purpose whether it’s easing lymphatic flow, supporting hormonal balance, or helping your body remember safety and softness again.

Postpartum care is so much more than rest its ritual, warmth, and being witnessed in your healing.

When your body feels cared for, your soul can exhale.

When I had my son my mom was only able to stay with us for a week and half after him being born it was so amazing having her there during that super transformative time with so much up in the air, the spaceiness of it all. She cooked, cleaned, spent time with and was able to come in the middle of the night if we needed help.

When she left to return home I realized this type of support is so needed but especially for those who don't have those family Dynamics or family nearby. This is when I learned about doula work and knew in my bones this was something I had to serve in.

This photo was taken two days postpartum one of the most magical and heart-shattering moments of my life.

I was holding my baby for the first time alone, but behind that moment was a storm of exhaustion, fear, and loneliness.
After my C-section, unexpected complications meant my baby was rushed to the NICU while I was left alone, being stitched back together unable to move, unable to hold him, unable to make medical decisions for him.
My husband had to step into that role while I lay there, trying to process what had just happened.

Because of pandemic restrictions and short-staffed hospitals, there was no one there to guide me.
No one to offer empathy, to explain what was happening, or to remind me that I was still a good mother even if I couldn’t hold my baby right away.
It was an incredibly vulnerable time and I felt completely unseen.

This experience changed everything for me.
It’s what led me into birth and postpartum work to become the support I never had.
I never want another woman, mother, or person to feel that kind of isolation during what should be the most sacred time of their life.

This photo reminds me of both the pain and the power that birthed my purpose.
