Today (May 24, 2026) is Pentecost Sunday. We celebrate this day when the Church was born - now over 2 billion strong. Although there have been dark seasons of our history and many sins, as Pete Greig says in today's Lectio 365 (https://lectio365.com/),

"The Church of Jesus Christ remains the greatest agency of human blessing the world has ever known; starting schools and hospitals, feeding the hungry, caring for the poor, inspiring the greatest art the work has ever know, healing broken families, ..."

And Pete quotes Professor Chris Green:

“Whatever we might’ve heard, Pentecost is not the story of devout believers lost in prayer, hidden away in an upper room, caught up in mystical rapture. Pentecost is the story of bewildered not-sure-what-to-believe believers swept out of prayer into the streets, into the public eye. Pentecost is the end of spirituality because the Spirit presses the church into the public square, into public responsibility. Following the Spirit always leads down from the upper room and out to the outer courts.”

Dr Chris Green, Theologian (quoted from Lectio 365)

At IHTC we are rooting for our Island healthcare system as we reach a serious crossroads. We recognize that a publicly funded system with timely primary care access is essential.

As a non-profit we will work together to find lasting solutions. My writings and advocacy are at drhendrikvisser.com. A recent post there is the first of a 5 part series outlining application of the "Four Keys" writ large for organizations. My book, FIT for Life in the Kingdom https://ihtc.info/fit-for-life/ is of course the personal application of the keys.

We will be hosting a public leaders breakfast meeting on Wednesday, May 13, in Charlottetown. Details here https://ihtc.info/events/

He is risen.

This Easter, we are reminded that hope is not fragile - it is alive, renewing, and deeply rooted in truth.

Through the resurrection, we are invited into restoration of body, mind, and spirit.

At the heart of health is the understanding that true healing flows from a deeper source - one that brings peace in uncertainty, strength in weakness, and light in every season.

May this Easter fill you with renewed hope, gentle healing, and the quiet assurance that new life is always possible.

Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and joyful Easter.

You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup 🌿
We often wait until we are completely burnt out before we give ourselves permission to rest. But mental health isn't just about managing a crisis—it’s about the small, daily choices we make to support our well-being.

How to Recognize You Need a Reset
Your mind and body usually send signals before a "crash." Look out for:

Persistent Fatigue: Feeling exhausted even after a full night’s sleep.

Increased Irritability: Finding yourself frustrated by small things that wouldn't normally bother you.

Withdrawal: Choosing to isolate yourself or losing interest in things you usually enjoy.

Difficulty Concentrating: Feeling "foggy" or struggling to make simple decisions.

Simple Ways to Prioritize Your Mental Health
Movement Over Perfection: A 10-minute walk outside can shift your perspective more than an hour of scrolling.

Set Boundaries: It is okay to say "no" to a commitment that drains your energy.

Mindful Moments: Practice five minutes of quiet meditation, listen to quiet music, or look outside or at a relaxing painting to reset your nervous system.

Prioritize Sleep: Quality rest is the foundation of emotional resilience.

Lean Into Your Community
You don’t have to navigate the hard days alone. Strength isn't just about carrying the weight—it’s about knowing when to ask for help.

Talk to friends and family: Vulnerability often creates deeper connections.

Consult professionals: If you feel overwhelmed, speaking with a therapist or medical professional is a proactive and courageous step toward healing.

April is Mental Health Awareness Month. Let’s make the conversation louder and the support stronger. 💚

We at IHTC extend our sincere condolences to former Health Minister Mark McLane’s family, the Premier, his political colleagues and Island friends. As the Premier has written, “Mark approached every challenge with humility and optimism, reminding those around him that collaboration and kindness could overcome even the toughest moments or the most challenging tasks.” He will be missed.

Mark’s loss adds to an already tumultuous start to March in the PEI healthcare system, with the loss of three family physicians and change in top leadership.

As a non-profit with a mission to serve the health and well-being needs of PEI, we empathize with our family medicine colleagues and their affected patients. And also with our publicly funded healthcare leaders wanting a healthy and productive frontline team. Unfortunately, all this latest news has highlighted the huge gaps in team solidarity.

As an organization with resources to help leaders and the public, we desire to humbly serve where there are needs. We will be announcing a permanent location in Charlottetown soon (April 1). Meanwhile, Dr. Visser has written about potential solutions to our healthcare crisis here:
https://drhendrikvisser.com/2026/03/16/march-weather-at-hpei/

We would advocate that all stakeholders convene ‘circles’ (without a podium) to listen with humility and mutual forgiveness. Which stakeholders? Politicians, health executives, frontline healthcare workers, educators, fitness instructors, employers, faith communities and non-profits, parents, and patients. Where it “takes a village to raise a child,” it takes our entire health and well-being system (public, private, influencers) to work together to solve our crisis with evidence based and proven strategies.

Feel free to reach out through our website https://ihtc.info/
We offer counselling, mediation, as well as group life skills and leadership workshops.

On behalf of the Board and Team of Integrated Health Transformation Centre https://ihtc.info/ we want to wish you a Merry and Blessed Christmas. May the Prince Of Peace be given a space in your celebrations. And may the promised Hope His birth brought to earth fill your heart with faith for New Beginnings in 2026. We wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year.

We look forward to serving you and walking with you on your healing journey in 2026. The path to well-being and wholeness is never a solo one and our team is ready to help you navigate to health and freedom. Whether you are stuck with lingering illness, chronic pain, or mental health challenges, don't hesitate to reach out. We work together as a faith-based interdisciplinary team (clinician, therapist, coaches, and physical fitness trainer) to find solutions where traditional healthcare may be insufficient. Or where access to clinical help is unavailable due to lack of family physician or nurse practitioner.

Thanks to all those who supported our work financially, prayerfully, and by volunteering.

We will be announcing group workshop and teaching events for the coming year in January. We do honour requests for specific topical workshops or talks. Please contact us if you or your group wish to host an event. https://ihtc.info/contact-us/
