✨ Meet Dr. Norman Kew ✨

We’re excited to welcome Podiatrist Dr. Norman Kew to Island Orthotics.

With over 25 years of clinical experience, Dr. Kew previously owned and operated a successful podiatry practice in Wasaga Beach, Ontario before relocating to Nova Scotia. Since 2021, he has been practicing part time in Charlottetown and is now seeing patients at Island Orthotics.

Dr. Kew completed the Chiropody program at the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences and has spent his career helping patients improve comfort, mobility, and overall foot health through personalized, evidence-based care.

He provides assessment and treatment for a variety of foot and lower limb concerns, with experience in diabetic foot care, wound care, custom functional foot orthotics, ingrown toenail procedures, and managing both common and complex foot conditions.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Kew enjoys photography, flying, fishing, and travelling, and appreciates any opportunity to spend time outdoors. ✈️🎣

We look forward to welcoming Dr. Kew’s patients to the clinic.

When people think of orthotics, they often think of foot inserts, but support goes far beyond that.

At Island Orthotics, we provide a full range of custom and prefabricated bracing solutions designed to support your mobility, reduce pain, and improve function from head to toe.

This includes custom foot orthoses for conditions like plantar fasciitis and diabetic foot care, as well as knee bracing for arthritis, injury, or post-operative recovery. We also provide more advanced devices such as AFOs and KAFOs for neurological and gait-related conditions.

Our services also include upper limb bracing, spinal bracing, cranial remolding orthoses for infants, custom toe orthoplasty, and compression garments for circulation and recovery.

✨ Meet Vanessa Lavoie ✨

As we begin this new chapter at our new location, we are proud to introduce Certified Orthotist, Vanessa Lavoie.

With over 15 years of experience, Vanessa has helped individuals across the Maritimes improve their mobility and quality of life. She led orthotics care in Charlottetown for over a decade and later served as Supervisor and primary clinician at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Vanessa brings extensive expertise in sports medicine, custom foot orthotics, pediatric care, scoliosis management, helmet therapy, and advanced gait analysis, along with a strong focus on personalized care.

She is excited to be bringing her experience home to Prince Edward Island and supporting the local community.

Outside the clinic, Vanessa enjoys gardening, painting, exploring nature, and spending time with her family 🌿

We look forward to welcoming you to the clinic.
