An evening of vision, leadership, and progress in health care 🌿

Health PEI hosted their Annual General Meeting at The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts Centre on Friday, October 30.

CEO Melanie Fraser highlighted our incredible staff, new hires, expanded patient medical homes, and open access mental health counselling. Board Chair Diane Griffin celebrated milestones like the reopening of the PCH ICU and shorter wait times for cataract surgeries and MRIs. Community Health Engagement Committee (CHEC) Eastern Chair Ryan Fohey emphasized the importance of community voices in shaping health care decisions.

The evening also celebrated excellence with the presentation of Leadership Excellence Awards in Quality and Safety. Congratulations to the winners!

🧪 Lab services are used to examine, diagnose, and monitor disease and other health conditions.

Your doctor may request to have a specimen (bodily fluid or tissue sample) sent to the laboratory for testing. The type of test your doctor requests will determine what samples are required, how and when they are collected, and how they will be tested once they arrive at the lab.

Carol has been helping set up the new Patient Medical Home at UPEI, and here are five things you might not know about it:

1️⃣ Community Input
Health PEI worked with the Autism Society to design a calm and welcoming space that meets the diverse needs of our community.

2️⃣ Collaborative Teaching Spaces
Collaboration is key! The clinic includes rooms for physiotherapy and kinesiology students to work alongside providers, supporting both patient care and hands-on learning.

3️⃣ Cool New Technology
Neat tools like the otoscope and ophthalmoscope connect to your phone via Bluetooth, so you can see exactly what your provider sees!

4️⃣ Connected with Electronic Medical Records
No more paper files. We use electronic medical records, making it easier to share documents from other providers—even across provinces.

5️⃣ Focus on Wellness
Soothing spaces for our youngest patients. We’re creating two special rooms with murals to help ease anxiety for our youngest patients.

We’re so excited to open this innovative space and welcome you in! 💙
