Here we go! 🌿

It feels really special to share that Coastline Summerside is now OPEN!! With Shirley Anne and I having grown up in Summerside, it is a real treat to now be contributing to the community in a way we are both so passionate about.

This location was chosen intentionally to help expand access and convenience for both current and future clients in the area.

Our services include:
• Individual therapy (adolescents, teens, adults)
• Couples counselling
• Trauma-focused therapy, including EMDR

📍 Brianne - Mondays
📍 Shirley Anne - Wednesday through Friday

We are deeply grateful to be contributing to the mental health supports available in the community, and we look forward to connecting with those who feel ready to begin their journey.

There’s something about this time of year that makes me want to zoom out.

Don’t misinterpret. I’m not talking about life overhauls or resolutions rooted in shame or “enough-ness.” Life comes at you fast, and in my work, I sit with a lot of client grief: loss of loved ones, lost capabilities, missed opportunities, and the ways we trip over our own “what ifs.” This isn’t about “new year, new me”, it’s about taking stock.

Resolutions can feel loud and unsustainable, but opting out of reflection entirely doesn’t fit either. For me, a 364-day calendar helps me see the year at a glance and stay grounded and intentional in my priorities (especially as someone who can hyper-focus in one area while unintentionally neglecting others!).

Consider this a gentle reminder: there’s no pressure to transform your life. Just an invitation to find intentionality in whatever way works for you. We can help with that!

May you find presence in 2026. 💙

With winter weather rolling in, just a gentle reminder: if the roads feel unsafe, please take care of yourself first. We can switch to virtual in a heartbeat or reschedule altogether. No fees, no stress. Your safety is our top priority!

If schools in Queens County are closed, you can expect an email from us regarding whether or not we are closing, checking in about your comfort with travelling, and any childcare changes that might make getting to your appointment tricky.

🎉 Big news to celebrate! 🎉

After completing an incredible 8-month internship at Coastline ✨ all while finishing her EMDR basic training AND wrapping up her Master’s program ✨ Shirley Anne has officially joined our services as a therapist!

For those who don’t know, EMDR basic training on its own is a huge undertaking. To complete it while also finishing a Master’s degree AND carrying the workload of a full internship is nothing short of extraordinary. It speaks volumes about Shirley’s dedication, skill, and heart for this work.

Many of you already know her warmth, wisdom, and care. Clients who have worked with her speak about the depth of healing they’ve experienced in ways they never expected, and we couldn’t be prouder of the impact she’s already making.

The best part? With this exciting transition, Shirley Anne will have the space to accept a few more clients! If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with her.

BIG NEWS!

We are thrilled to announce that Coastline Counselling will be welcoming a highly capable addition to the team in January. Please join us in introducing Shirley Anne Cameron (she/her), our practicum student for 2025!

Shirley has successfully completed the coursework for her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and is eager to begin her counselling internship. She can be described as equal parts head and heart—tenacious, hardworking, intelligent, and dedicated to everything she sets her mind to. However, her intellect is just one part of what she brings to the table. Shirley also has an innate ability to connect with others and leave them feeling truly seen. She prioritizes building a strong sense of safety and acceptance in the therapeutic relationship, always collaborating closely with her clients.

Shirley has had an impressive career in education, where she worked with adolescents and young adults, fostering personal development, life skills, and confidence through experiential opportunities. You may recognize Shirley from her time onstage performing or in the pit orchestrating. She is a trained and celebrated singer, a recognized choir director, and an acclaimed conductor. Through her many skill sets, Shirley has experienced firsthand the relationship between music and mental health, offering a unique, holistic perspective on fostering well-being.

Coastline is exceptionally fortunate to host her for her practicum. Shirley will be offering low-cost therapy and will begin seeing clients in February. If you’re interested in working with Shirley, please email brianne@coastlinecounselling.ca.

The kids are back in school, and that includes little Buoy, Coastline Counselling’s therapy dog prospect! Buoy is a 2-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi who has been training as a therapy dog with the wonderful .dogs. The presence of a therapy dog in the office not only enhances the warm welcome to the space but is also supported by scientific research. Interacting with animals can lower blood pressure, improve client engagement, assist with emotion regulation and grounding techniques, and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Today marks Buoy’s first day in the office, and it was a great start! A big thank you to everyone who helped her acclimate to the space and the work. While she still has some training ahead before she becomes a regular fixture, I look forward to introducing her to clients interested in her services! 🦊🛟
