How blessed we are to call Prince Edward Island home.

From tip to tip, Islanders are connected by family and friends, tradition, a love of this beautiful land.

This quote is contained in Lucy Maud Montgomery's lyrics of the "Island Hymn" . The music was composed by Lawrence W. Watson.

A petition has been filed with the House of Commons asking the federal government to ban the practice of obituary piracy. You may have noticed third-party sites posting obituaries which profit from the sales of flowers, tree planting and memorial products/keepsakes.

We encourage individuals to review and sign the petition; share it with your network of contacts and ensure digital dignity for individuals and families.

Your advocacy is appreciated.

Please use trusted funeral home sites when seeking obituary information.

It's Super Bowl Sunday - a day when football enthusiasts gather to watch the championship game.

Tony Dungy will be one of the faces appearing as part of these celebrations. He lost his oldest son James to su***de in 2005.

This quote reveals something those who experience grief understand. We will continue to grieve for the rest of our days and there are no stages or cycles to the process.

We ask that you please be mindful when visiting the funeral home.

Fragrances are found in a wide range of scented products such as perfume, cologne, aftershave, deodorant, soap, shampoo, hairspray, body spray, makeup and powders. Examples of other products with added scents include air fresheners, fabric softeners, laundry detergents, cleaners, carpet deodorizers, facial tissues, and candles.

For most individuals, exposure to scented products is not usually problematic, however, for others, scented products could cause health reactions such as irritation of the eyes, throat and nose for those with asthma, allergies, migraines, or chemical sensitivities.

Our Story

MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel, locally owned and operated by Allison and Gail Swan, has served the Island community for over three-quarters of a century.

Situated on Ole King Square, the funeral home is only minutes away from Province House, the Confederation Centre of the Arts and the beautiful waterfront that is so much a part of the charm of Prince Edward Island’s capital city. The funeral home was founded in the early 1920’s by N.D. MacLean, who was the first licensed embalmer on Prince Edward Island. It is interesting to note that as early as the late 1800’s a funeral home was located on this site.

For a Life Worth Celebrating.
