We are thrilled to announce the naming of the Edward and Sandra Clark Nuclear Medicine Suite, recognizing a generous gift of over $1 million that fully funded the province’s newest state-of-the-art SPECT CT system. This gift builds on their long-standing commitment to strengthening healthcare at the QEH and supporting our Island community.

The new system replaces a 14-year-old scanner that has reached the end of its service life. The upgraded technology provides sharper images, greater reliability, and more efficient exams, supporting more than 1,700 Islanders each year. With quicker scan times it is anticipated that more patients can be served per year.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to Edward and Sandra Clark for this incredible contribution, ensuring our healthcare teams have advanced diagnostic imaging today and for years to come. 🧡

On World Cancer Day, we honour the dedicated healthcare teams at the QEH who deliver safe, precise cancer care every day, as well as the donors whose generosity helps us fund the advanced tools that make that care possible.

One of the tools funded this past year is Solid Water HE, an advanced material used in radiation therapy. Solid Water HE mimics the way radiation moves through the human body, allowing medical physicists to test and calibrate radiation equipment to help clinicians deliver precise doses to patients.

While it works quietly behind the scenes, Solid Water HE plays a vital role in treatment planning and quality assurance. It supports the accuracy of care, reduces risks, and helps ensure each patient receives the most effective therapy possible.
