What made you say, “I’m going to start my own first aid training company”?

Back in 2016, it was personal. I was scared my grandfather might have a heart attack, and I didn’t feel confident that I—or anyone around him—could help. I wanted to change that for others. I thought, “Hey, maybe I can actually make a living helping people feel ready.”

Then 2020 hit. My clients still needed certifications. The pandemic didn’t stop insurance deadlines—but the available options were a mess. No solid hybrid training, tons of restrictions, and rules that just didn’t work.

So I wrote my own program.💥

Red Cross told me I had to pick: drop my program or lose my training partner status. I picked bold. I chose better. I started Life Start to give companies across Canada a smarter, unboring, hands-on way to train.

🩹Because saving lives shouldn’t come with red tape.

Tip Tuesday – Choking Rescue (Adults)

If someone’s choking and can’t speak, cough, or breathe—don’t wait.

👉 First: give 5 firm back blows between the shoulder blades.
👉 Then: if they’re still choking, follow with abdominal thrusts (yes, the wrap-and-squeeze move).

Repeat if needed until it clears or help arrives.
And nope—“drink water” isn’t gonna cut it.

🚨 HEROIC RESCUE AT DELTA BEACH 🚨

What started as a peaceful evening turned into a life-or-death moment — and one Portage father didn't hesitate to act.

Preston Houle rushed to save a drowning toddler earlier this month and performed CPR until help arrived. Thanks to his quick thinking, the child is expected to make a full recovery.

He’s now urging others to get CPR certified and stay alert around water. 🛟

🍓**Strawberry season is here!** 🍓

We took a little break from bandages and CPR to head out to Fox Creek Farm PEI this evening — and in under 20 minutes, we had over 10lbs of strawberries picked! If you haven’t been yet, it’s a must-do for summer.

The berries are SO good, our toddler couldn’t even wait the 10-minute drive home to dive in (the small bowl was full before the drive) and surprisingly, only 1 berry was “quality tested” in the field! 😆

We were proud to volunteer our first aid services at the Tell Tale Harbour opening show on Saturday. The show is running as part of The Charlottetown Festival 2025, from June 14th to August 29th at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. We highly recommend checking it out!

From minor injuries to general support, our team was there to help keep everyone safe and enjoy the show!
