Who needs Cupid when you have nose boops and wagging tails? 🏹🐕

We are so lucky to have the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs Ontario visiting us at CKHA. Whether it’s a wagging tail in the hallway or a cold nose during a busy shift, these pups provide the best kind of medicine for our patients, visitors, and staff alike.

A Message to Chatham-Kent from CKHA President & CEO, Adam Topp:

On behalf of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, I would like to thank the Chatham-Kent community for your patience, understanding, and support during the recent challenges related to our hospital’s boiler system.

Over the past several days, unexpected infrastructure challenges affected our hospital and, most significantly, the operations of our surgical program. The reduced steam capacity limited our ability to sterilize surgical instruments and therefore resulted in the postponement of some elective procedures. We know that this caused significant inconvenience and disappointment for patients and families that were impacted. For this, we sincerely apologize.

PSA (Feb 2, 2026): Following the boiler system issue last week, teams at CKHA are actively working toward restoring operations with a full return to normal expected later this week.

While progress is being made, certain elective surgical procedures scheduled for February 3 and 4 are expected to be cancelled. Patients affected by these cancellations will be contacted directly by their surgeon or care team with next steps.

Emergency and urgent care services remain available and continue without interruption.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work through this situation and will continue to provide updates as work progresses.

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is launching a new Patient Experience Survey across the hospital, supporting the strategic plan focus: "Our Focus is YOU."

Upon registration, patients are asked for their email address and consent for CKHA to email the patient the survey after discharge.

The data collected will help make care better and guide the implementation of improvements, reinforcing CKHA’s commitment to patient-centered service.
