Midwives of Chatham-Kent

Ontario midwives are experts in normal pregnancy, birth and newborn care. All care is covered by OHIP, and services are free to non-OHIP carriers excluding costs of labs/ultrasounds/hospital-incurred fees. Midwives are skilled to attend birth both in hospital and home.

**Please be advised that no individual medical advice will be given on this page. If you need to get a hold of your midwife, call the office or use the pager if it is an emergency.

CKHA invites you to join us for our Annual Memorial Service, dedicated to honoring and remembering those who have experienced pregnancy loss.

This burial service includes all pregnancy losses from June 2025 to May 2026. However, anyone who has ever been touched by a pregnancy loss is welcome to attend and find comfort alongside other families who share a similar journey.

🗓️ Date: Friday, June 5
⏰ Time: 1:30 p.m.
📍 Location: Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham (Gravesite)

A short, non-denominational ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m., concluding with the burial of the infant casket. The casket will be present on a special stand during the service, and attendees will be invited to come forward to place a hand or a flower on it if they wish.

If you plan to attend, please let us know by contacting CKHA Professional practice at ckhaprofessionalpractice@ckha.on.ca or 519-352-6401 ext. 5100

Please join us for this afternoon of quiet reflection, remembrance, and community support. 🤍

Happy Nurses Week to our nurses on the Women and Children’s unit 🤍. We are so grateful to work alongside this hard-working, dedicated, caring and fun group! Nursing is a science and an art form - forging deep connections with patients you met moments ago and being present for the best and worst days of people’s lives. Long shifts, understaffed and many times unappreciated while remaining steadfast in your care of growing families and the tiny humans in our nursery. Being a calm presence, a fierce advocate and knowledgeable health care provider day in and out… you are seen, valued and appreciated! Happy nursing week to our wonderful colleagues 🤍👶🏽👩🏼‍⚕️

To the clients of 2025… it was an honour to care for you and your growing families! 👶🏽

Introducing our nursing student, Kelsey! “My name is Kelsey and I’m currently in my 4th year of the BScN program. I’ve been working as an RPN for the past 8 years, with about 6 of those years spent on the medicine unit at the hospital. I also had the opportunity to do a travel nursing contract in New Brunswick, which was a great experience.
I’ve recently developed an interest in maternal and newborn care and am excited to explore this area further throughout my placement with the Midwives.
Outside of nursing, I love spending time with friends and family, trying new restaurants, finding good coffee spots, and going for walks with my dog Milo. My partner and I are also getting married next year, which has been really exciting! I am looking forward to learning and growing during this experience!”
