MEMO: Clarifying the $100 ODB Deductible – Know the Facts as we approach August 1st!
Dear Valued Patients,
We understand that some pharmacies are promoting that, as of August 1st, you "won’t have to pay the $100 ODB deductible." We want to take a moment to clarify how this actually works — so you can make fully informed decisions about your care.
❗ THE FACTS ABOUT THE $100 DEDUCTIBLE
The $100 annual Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) deductible applies to seniors 65+ under the standard ODB program.
Some individuals may qualify for the Low-Income Seniors Program, which reduces or eliminates this deductible.
📝 If claims are being made that you won't have to pay the yearly $100 deductible, what is really being said is that by providing you with an Application for Seniors to Receive the Ontario Drug Benefit at a Reduced Rate, you may qualify for no deductible, but it is entirely based on your tax return.
This form is available to ANY senior and is based on your Notice of Assessment from the CRA.
If you meet the income thresholds:
Single seniors earning ≤ $22,200
Senior couples earning ≤ $37,100 combined
You may qualify to have no deductible and lower co-pays.
✅ WE ALREADY DO THIS — AND MORE
