🚨 UPDATE: APRIL 5th 🚨 MESSAGE FROM MIKE
🔺🔺 FLED HAS SENT POSTERS TO ALL VETS ON THE ISLAND 🔺🔺WHO ARE ON OUR CONTACT LIST
Thank you so much to everyone who came out yesterday to help search — the turnout and support have been incredible, and I am so grateful.
Sadly, Martie has not been found yet. We did have a second drone out along the river yesterday, and there does appear to be a shape on the riverbed that could possibly be him, but it’s still unclear. I’ll be sending the drone back out later today to try to get a clearer image.
I am also looking into having a kayak team check the area along the river where he may have fallen from the cliffs.
At the same time, there is still a possibility that Martie is lost and wandering, or that he could be trapped or caught somewhere with his collar.
If anyone is able to help by walking/searching in the Smiley Road/Weddells Lake area, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you again for all the continued support — please keep sharing and keeping an eye out for my boy 💛.

🚨 UPDATE SAT. APR.4 NO SIGHTINGS REPORTED FLED HAS SENT OUT REQUEST FOR MORE VOLUNTEERS IF THEY ARE ABLE TO HELP . ALSO THE FELLOW WITH THE DRONE CRASHED IT INTO THE RIVER SO IF ANYBODY SEES A DRONE AND CAN GET GREAT IT MAY HAVE FLOATED ABIT OR SUNK THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP 🚨

To continue with National Tick Awareness Month

How to check for ticks on your pet

Step 1: Starting at your pet’s head, use your fingers like a comb and run your hands over your pet’s body. You are feeling for lumps or bumps you previously did not notice. Make sure to check under your pet’s collar, inside the groin area, and under your pet’s front legs. It’s also important to examine under your pet’s tail and between his toes.

Step 2: Check your pet’s ears thoroughly looking inside and out.

March is National Tick Awareness Month
How big is a tick?
Ticks come in all sizes.
In their immature stages ticks can be barely visible while adult ticks can be considerably larger (by tick standards!) when they are engorged after feeding on the blood of an animal or human.
Ensure to check your pet everyday for ticks.

March is National Tick Awareness Month!

Did you know? Ticks that are active during fluctuating winter temperatures and in the spring could pose the greatest risk!

A recently published Canadian study showed that blacklegged ticks infected with the Lyme disease causing bacteria are more likely to survive winter temperatures and are the first ones to “wake up” on warmer days during cooler months.
