Today, on World Stroke Day, we’re joining the global call to raise awareness about stroke prevention and the importance of recognizing the signs early.
In Canada, a stroke occurs approximately every five minutes, and one in four Canadians is expected to experience one in their lifetime. Stroke remains the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of adult disability — but up to 90% of strokes can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices and managing risk factors like high blood pressure, diet, and smoking.
Knowing the signs can save a life.
Remember FAST:
F – Face: Is it drooping?
A – Arms: Can you raise both?
S – Speech: Is it slurred or jumbled?
T – Time: Time to call 911 immediately.
Every second counts. Let’s spread the word and protect our province through awareness and quick action.
