As some know, my son has had a rough go of it medically for the last 4 years. He's been tested by every specialist you can think of, and we finally received answers back in November 2024. BUT now those answers are taking us across the country to get him the care he deserves. 🩺

This has made me need to put Mountain Mama Doula on PAUSE ⏸️ I am so thankful for the doula community that helped when we have been stuck in hospital and who were my support.
I'm thankful for all the families who allowed me into their lives at such a vulnerable time.

🧠 In 3 weeks we will be flying out to Ontario & Reid will be getting a brain/spine surgery to hopefully improve his quality of life, giving his brain & brain stem more space while stopping his body from creating permanent damage to his spinal cord.

We will be out there for almost a month away from our other 2 kiddos. Thankfully, Sam will be able to come for the first half but then has to fly back to BC.

💫Thank you for the love & support of my small business. I started this when Reid was a fresh baby 5 months old in the height of the pandemic, and it grew beyond what I expected or imagined. I've attended over 120+ births, all with their own unique stories. Now it's time to care for my family & myself for the next while. It feels right knowing Reid was the baby who started this, and now he's the one who's putting it on PAUSE. 💫

Chest are thick with coughs

It's the season for sickness keep yourself & you're babe safe by washing hands, keeping away from people who are sick, and nourishing your body with food and vitamins that help support your immune system.

This year has been eye opening, life changing and beautiful. I've been apart of some of the most beautiful and challenging births. From homebirths, to premature births, and even my first set of twins!

There's been many sprinkles of simple births while having others that had more complex stories. But each and everyone has beauty and importance.

Life has shifted personally we now homeschool our oldest because our school systems lack supports for her - thankfully we are in the position to do so because MANY families who have kids with disabilities are not able to have one parent stay home.

We battle health struggles for our daughter mainly chronic UTI's and vision issues. Then we have finally received a diagnosis for our middle son who's been struggle since he was ONE. - super frustrating because it's a common issue that was written off right away, yet has caused so much trauma, and sucks his quality of life away. Plus, it may have already caused permanent damage.

For now my books are on pause - 🖤🖤🖤

It's been quiet......again 😆
Social media always takes a back seat to life for me. It's one of the last things I have the energy for- but here we go! A reminder I'm still here, still working and still taking clients!

June 0/ July 0/ August 1spot /Sept 2spots /Oct 3spots and beyond!

Quick reminder for indigenous families only 1 parent needs to be status/non-status/Métis/Inuit to qualify for the grant program that can provide funding for doula support- and I am approved to provide those services!

The haze after labour has finished;

baby is here and you try to think back of the last 24 hours..
Nothings really there, you remember tiny pieces but it's all a blurr.

February is well known for being heart month, but it is also Turner Syndrome awareness month 💜

I always want to post about Turners and how it changed our lives- but my bucket isn't always full enough to do that!

This month, there may be some sprinkles of TS facts & maybe my experience as a parent who has a daughter with TS and how it changed our world. But for right now, I'll leave this little purple page 💜
Google definitely gives some scary info, but it's also the reality for a lot of families who are given a dx of TS during pregnancy and after baby is born. It's also not the reality of a lot of families- Turners is a spectrum, and some girls have many signs & symptoms while others have barely any at all!
