The word 'devil' means slanderer. I've heard this twice recently, in different sermons. It resonates, as do other descriptions: accuser, deceiver, adversary, father of lies. He twists truth, causing us to doubt the goodness of God and others. It's not just what the devil is; it's what he does.

But take heart.

Something to think about...

This phrase came up in a webinar yesterday and it's stuck in my head. Kindness was defined as speaking honestly about how we experience each other, coming from a place of genuine care & concern. Niceness is pleasant & agreeable yet can be more self-serving.

This makes me think of the difference between peacemakers and peacekeepers. A peacemaker will pursue resolution, even if it gets uncomfortable. A peacekeeper will maintain harmony by avoiding conflict. Yet Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers...

Things that make me go hmmm...
