They say that "communication is key". But how can communication occur without listening to someone to understand where they are coming from? If I tell you something and you are not willing to hear where I am coming from, then what is the point of telling you anything? They may be more concerned about your emotional response than what triggered the reaction. They may not take accountability for their part in the situation and point fingers at you instead. Some people will not hear what you have to say because they are not ready to hear it without getting offended. Those people are not ready to grow.

Did you know that poor sleep is both a cause and symptom of mental illness?
Sleep hygiene is developing necessary habits to allow for good nighttime sleep quality which aids in feeling rested and alert all day!
Here are a few tips for good sleep hygiene!
1. Go to bed and get up at the same time every day – keep a routine!
2. Make a space that puts your body to sleep. (EX. Keep your bedroom cooler and darker than other rooms in your home.)
3. Try to avoid naps! Do not stay in bed awake. Get up and do something relaxing, something low energy for 15 minutes then try again!
4. Limit caffeine after 2:00 pm!
5. Partake in some form of exercise daily! A 20-minute walk per day can do wonders for your mental health!
6. Avoid large high fat meals prior to sleeping.
7. Turn off electronics an hour before bed.
8. Put your phone on silent and out of reach when laying in bed.
9. Try taking 10 deep slow breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth before trying to sleep.
10. Seek counselling to talk to someone about your stressors.

Hello Everyone!

I thought I would introduce myself! My name is Kassidy Hildebrand, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as a registered kinesiologist for several years, therefore I value a holistic approach to therapy. At the beginning of the year, I launched my private practice, Grace Collective Wellness, where I leverage my passions and aim to come alongside you, supporting you in your healing journey.
