Why positive statements? Because they help us grow and practice the skill of seeing ourselves as capable and valuable!

Before committing your time and effort to crafting and using positive statements, first understand that the goal is not to “make you feel better”. Okay, feeling better (more well!) is always the goal in therapy, but we want that wellness to be genuine and from deep, lasting level not just a surface level smile moment (those have value too!).

A positive statement needs to reflect the world, and your place in it, in an accurate way, and have a focus toward things that you value or that improve your life (and the world).

The statement in the cartoon below is a perfect example of a Positive Statement. It’s true (the being is very imaginative), it accurately reflects, and it focuses on a positive skill/capacity that the being can value and grow in a healthy direction.

Working with Affirmations and challenging our Automatic Negative Thoughts can be confusing, overwhelming work (especially if we aim to craft perfect Affirmations or overly optimistic outlooks!).

The ‘trick’ is to find a statement that feels comfortable enough we can believe in it while still reflecting a positive outlook on reality.

Let's reflect on the importance of YOU. Life can be demanding, and sometimes we need recharging too.

In the hustle and bustle, it's easy to forget that we're not invincible.

So, here's your friendly reminder: prioritize YOU, recharge, and make sure your energy doesn't hit 1%.

You deserve to feel revitalized and ready to tackle whatever comes your way!
