Our Justice Program Cultural Exchange with Kwanlin Dün First Nation was absolutely amazing! ❤️🙌🌄

Huge hands up to the organizers — Leesh, Esther and their teams — for bringing this gathering to life. Our ancestors were surely with us as we came together on the land to heal, share stories, and strengthen connections.

Alicia was honored to paint one of our Qwí:qwelstóm gifts — her very first Salmon design on a drum — for Elder Karole O’Brien from Little Fish Lake. She facilitates circles and it was so special to see her in her traditional territory. We used to dance women’s traditional together down south, so this reunion felt full-circle. 🩵

We are Salmon People, connected by the rivers and the Salmon itself — there’s a deeper story behind this design, and it was truly meant for her and their program. Alicia was grateful to create art and gift it away. 🙌💙

Frank Charlie also painted a Sasquatch drum and gifted it to Steven, who’s related to many on the team. Such an incredible experience and journey with our Qwí:qwelstóm family! 🌄🙌😎

One of our favorite moments was when Steven took us to the top of the mountain and showed us his traditional caribou hunting territory and traplines — it felt like home. 🙌

We’re back now, hearts full. ❤️

💜 Purple Light Nights is shining bright in Ts’elxwéyeqw this October. 💜

We were honored to listen and hold space with Carrielynn Victor as she shared a powerful Halq’eméylem story about domestic violence.

Each purple light is a symbol—of remembrance for lives lost, support for survivors, and hope for those still living with abuse.

Together, we send a clear message:
🚫 Violence has no place in our homes or communities.
💡 Ts’elxwéyeqw stands for safety, respect, and compassion.

Today, Qwi:qwelstóm acknowledges that we hold the power to break the cycle of violence against Indigenous women and girls. We have made the decision that this cycle must end with us. Now, it is our responsibility to act on the commitments we’ve made—prioritizing them in every part of our work and daily lives.

Self-care is so critical these days 💆‍♀️🧘‍♂️.
So many days, I end up staying in my office through lunch 🕛💻. I'm so grateful that Joanne makes our self-care mandatory 🙌.
We can only help others when our own cup is full ☕❤️.

Today, we went to Angel Pond up at Chilliwack Lake 🏞️. We followed the trail 🚶‍♀️🌲 and let everything go down the river 🌊✨.
When you spend time with the right people, they make you shine 🌟💫.

We had a full house at our Qwi:qwelstom Wellness Team Elders Panel Meeting ❤️ It was wonderful to gather again after the summer break—we truly missed everyone.

Today, we were joined by Connective, who support our brothers returning to community life.

A heartfelt thank-you to Pipam for the delicious fish soup and sandwiches. Your generosity is always appreciated.

Ey swayel mekw'ewát !
Today was our first Halq’eméylem language class with Jason Thompson, who kindly filled in for Colin Point.
Learning the language through games and fun activities is such an engaging and effective way to learn!
