🦋 International Overdose Awareness Day 🦋

On August 28th, we gathered at Shxwha:y Village for a day of remembrance, connection, and healing. Together, we honored the lives lost and the families forever changed by overdose.

With live music, a butterfly release, resource tables, face painting, healing touch from One Human Initiative, food trucks, and community support, it was a day to grieve, remember, and stand in solidarity. đź’ś

We carry the memories of those we’ve lost in our hearts and continue the work of compassion, awareness, and hope.

IOAD 2025 is coming up. Our event, hosted by CCAT and Shxwha:y Village continues to grow each year. Our local event is themed “Stronger Together” as we unite to honour lives lost, support those affected, and work to end stigma around substance use and addiction. 💜 Please come out. If your organization would like to register for a resource table, please be sure to confirm your attendance with us.

Your CCAT executive was at Sardis Park today. What a fantastic day!

Wow, that prize wheel is an amazing thing. I had to fight back tears a few times listening to the kids’ answers to: what they are proud of in themselves, what they want in a friend, something that they’ve done recently that was really hard or someone they really look up to. All of the questions/answers and conversations with the older kids and adults around themes of stigma, resilience, statistics, and harm reduction are so powerful as well, and such an easy activity to impart meaningful information in a mutually engaging way.

Thank you to Wilma's Transition Society for creating such an amazing and important day for the community, and for including us!

(Was so good to see you for a few minutes, Brenda!! Continue to heal and we will see you soon!!)

Oh right... we have too MANY shelter beds, duh!!
This is why we find 70+ folks wandering the streets in below zero temperatures each night, because they simply cannot decide which shelter bed they want that evening, too many to choose from.

Chilliwack, BC: Chilliwack City Council is calling on the Government of BC to take an equitable approach to shelter bed locations. In a recent memo from staff, Council learned that Chilliwack currently has the highest number of shelter beds per capita out of all cities in the Lower Mainland. Using t...

TOXIC DRUG CRISIS

Empty detox beds do not fix the poisoned supply or keep people safe. More involuntary treatment will just make things worse. The simple answer: lack of staff. There are just not enough qualified people available to provide the specialized care required for safe effective treatment – especially with the amount of benzos now in the supply.
