Ah screen time, we need to be aware we are all addicted to some degree! Most people struggle to manage a balance between work and play and technology often makes that even more difficult. Our devices are designed to keep our attention and give our brains the dose of one of our ‘happy’ chemicals, dopamine. Dopamine is the reward hormone and our brain loves it! Although it is hard to not give in to the scrolling and ease of accessing more dopamine, this month we will be focussing on the importance of limiting screen time as much as possible so that we can avoid the unhelpful impacts on our brains and mood.

It can be confusing to know when to access support from a therapist. The key thing to consider is what you are experiencing. For example, if you are unhappy in your job, a coach can support you in creating a plan for change in career, education, etc. However, if you are experiencing unsettling emotional distress that has arisen from a diagnosis, relationship break-down, loss, or childhood trauma, then therapy can be an important step to take in your healing.
