For far too long we’ve been taught to push down our challenging feelings, suppress them, compartmentalize them, ignore them, “be strong” and pretend like they don’t affect us. Yet we are now faced the biggest mental health pandemic we’ve ever known!
Processing emotions is one of the biggest ways to prevent mental health disorders. PPD, PPA, PPP… Learn to process the good and the challenging emotions and then give this gift to our children by modeling it for them.
One of the life changing books for me as a parent: Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child by John & Julie Gottman. I highly recommend it to all parents.
