Meet Carrie Enns, Patient Care Coordinator for Ambulatory Day Care and IV Therapy at Chilliwack General Hospital.
A graduate of University of the Fraser Valley, Carrie has spent 20 years nursing at CGH, working in medicine, telemetry, leadership roles, and now overseeing Ambulatory Day Care, Endoscopy, Minor Procedures, Antibiotic Therapy, and IV Infusions.
For Carrie, nursing has always been about building human connections, advocating for patients, and witnessing resilience and recovery firsthand. Her favourite part of the role is helping patients feel supported throughout their healthcare journey while also supporting the incredible staff she works alongside every day.
Carrie shared that one thing she wishes more people understood about nursing is the emotional weight nurses carry daily, supporting patients and families through grief, trauma, uncertainty, and difficult moments while also protecting their own mental resiliency.
What gives her hope in healthcare right now? Despite the pressures facing the healthcare system, students are still choosing nursing and stepping forward to care for future generations.
She says one of the most special things about nursing in Chilliwack is the strong sense of teamwork and connection throughout the hospital. “It really is like working with family.”
Even though Carrie lives in Abbotsford, she continues to choose CGH after two decades because of the relationships she’s built and the personal touch that comes with advocating for patients in a close-knit community hospital.
Thank you, Carrie, for your years of leadership, compassion, and commitment to exceptional patient care. 💙
