Posted • Everything you need to know about PLANTAR FASCIITIS REHAB🦶👇

Stretches and ankle mobility in the early stages of rehab can help play a crucial role in pain management as well as returning appropriate mobility to the ankle and foot joints. However, on top of working on stretching and mobility, we need to strengthen the muscles that help to support the plantar fascia.

Why? When we break down what the root cause of plantar fasciitis is, it’s the plantar fascia and surrounding musculature not being able to accept the load that we have placed on it. This is why many deal with symptoms of plantar fasciitis on and off for years - symptoms calm down, we walk that extra mile, and we seem to take two steps forward and 3 steps back (literally!!) This then results in microtrauma to the tissue and thus, nagging pain that can feel very limiting.

So, if this tissue isn’t tolerating the load that we are placing through it how do we truly solve our plantar fasciitis? Through progressive loading of this tissue and supporting muscles.

The above exercises are all pulled from various stages of our plantar fasciitis rehab program. If you want a progressive plan to help alleviate plantar fasciitis long term, check out our program on the Prehab app. Link in bio to check it out with a free trial!

The best posture is the most comfortable one until it's not comfy anymore, then we change it to the next comfortable one.

In this study, we found three things:

1) The protein RDA is insufficient to support higher rates of muscle protein synthesis (again, but it seems the RDA will never change)

2) Whey and pea protein provided as a supplement to older men (not exercising) were effective in stimulating MPS.

3) Collagen was NOT (again, we and others have shown collagen to be largely useless) useful for muscle

Take away:
Older men (and likely women, too) need more protein than the RDA to support muscle as they age. Plant and animal-based supplements are equally effective. Collagen is not useful for muscles.
