It is World Mental Health Day! Make sure you are checking on loved ones today, and everyday if you suspect they are struggling with mental health and/or thoughts of su***de 🧡

October 10th is World Mental Health Day. This year’s theme highlights access to mental health services during catastrophes and emergencies. Strong communities are essential to good mental health, before, during and after an emergency or disaster. CMHA-NL understands the critical importance of weaving mental health skill-building into all aspects of our lives: home, work, school, and play. Community-based mental health organizations like CMHA-NL help do just that.

This Fall CMHA-NL is launching the Resilience Project to support members of our communities impacted by the Kingston and Holyrood wildfires. Education and training to support mental health resilience and su***de prevention will be offered with no charge to community members, first responders, children and youth and anyone else needing support in these geographic areas. Please check https://cmhanl.ca/community-lifelines/ for ways to participate. 💚

We are grateful for our partnership with Government of Newfoundland and Labrador which support CMHA-NL’s important work.

Over the past weekend, we had the honour of attending the 30th annual ASISTNL Conference in Clarenville for Trainers all across the world. The conference theme was “Pearl” and this was a space where pearls of wisdom were shared in every discussion.

It was inspiring to see the work that is being done across the country and around the globe regarding su***de prevention, intervention, and postvention. Attending this conference has continued to help shape the Trainers we aspire to be and assist in building su***de-safer local communities!

It was an honour to be able to partner with the Town of Torbay to offer this invaluable Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)! We want to also give a special shoutout to this wonderful group of individuals who participated in this 2-day workshop to help create su***de-safer local communities. 💚🤍💚
