Regardless if your garden or balcony — or windowsill— is nothing spectacular compared to others’ garden spaces, do you still adore and dote on some of your plants? Do you get attached to them? Root for them? Cheer them on?

I do! Especially ones we are really nursing to health, or we’ve transplanted or potted ourselves, from seedling to bloom.

Being outside in sun and tending, caring, maintaining, nurturing…. There is something so sacred and instinctual about that. And it’s rare these days, too.

Often, we are buying, replacing, ordering, upgrading….

Maintaining, tending and caring is almost a lost art.

The slowness and patience we need in the garden is a rare commodity, too.

Is this partly why gardening feels so restorative for us — and our plants?

Do you have a sacred little space?

Which plants are you rooting (pun intended😉) for this year?

I’m writing about this idea of the beauty in tending and maintaining in my next Substack piece.

I’d love to have you join me there.
