From plant to liquid, the journey of an essential oil is a story of patience and respect for nature. 🌿

The plant is harvested at the height of its vitality — when the sun’s warmth coaxes it to release its richest, most potent oils. This is nature’s fragrant armor, a gift born from resilience against time, weather, and predators.

Once gathered, fresh botanicals are placed into a still for steam distillation. As steam rises through the plants, it carries their purest essence, cooling into two treasures: aromatic floral water, known as hydrosol, and the concentrated essence we call essential oil. ✨

Here on the farm, our copper alembic still yields more hydrosol than oil — a reminder that every drop is precious. That’s why all of our hydrosols are farm-grown, while our essential oils are sourced with the same integrity, focusing on organic, and produced with care.

Distillation is both science and ritual 🌱💧

Melissa lavender in bloom, at our farm, with busy bees! And we are getting ready to distill it all for you!

This beautiful and rare lavender was brought to our farm from the Lavender Capital of the US, in Sequim, WA.

It's a very special variety of lavender (one of many!). The pink flowers that will delight your senses with sweet floral and citrus scents. Chefs even prefer this one for their savoury dishes.

We will have hydrosols and oils available at our store in Cobble Hill for a very limited time! Stay tuned for when it arrives!

Would you like to work with organic essential oils all day in the heart of Cobble Hill village? Are you an aromatherapist or knowledgeable about essential oils and keen to learn more?

This is a singular job opportunity in the Cowichan Valley to work with Essential Aura Aromatics (a division of Organic Fair) a long-established distiller and purveyor of certified organic oils since 1999.

This is a safe, fun & inclusive work environment, close to a bus stop, a minimum of 30 hr/wk, and $17+ /hr (determined by experience). Many perks include delicious food/ drinks every shift, free products and staff discounts.

Job duties include:
- Ability to carefully pour essential oils of varying sizes.
- Make and package a variety of aromatherapy products.
- Read formulas accurately, use a digital scale.
- Detail-oriented, good working memory, and executive functioning for fulfilling orders.
- Understanding and adherence to systems.
- Basic computer skills and math skills, like ratios and percentages.
- Identify the different essential oils and their uses- you either already know this or are a quick study.
- Communicate effectively to customers in the store and in email information about our products.
- This job has aspects that will require you to interact with the public.
- Pick and pack orders, safely package and ship products.
- Lift 50lbs and be on your feet for multiple hours in a day.

- A person who has friendly professional interpersonal skills, a good attitude, with solid energy for the day.
- Enthusiasm and knowledge of essential oils.
- Joy in connecting with and educating customers.

We are farmers, distillers, aromatherapists, and herbalists. We have served many professionals in the natural health realm with our aromatherapy products. With our new retail store opening on Fisher Road, our products will be newly available to the public as well. We have been operating our business here in Cobble Hill for the past 16 years on our 5-acre organic farm and are excited to work with you!

- Lavandin
