Stimming is a self-stimulatory behavior used to manage sensory input, express emotions, or cope with overwhelming feelings. It includes repetitive actions like hand-flapping, rocking, or humming. For many, stimming helps maintain focus and calm in overwhelming environments. Recognizing and accepting these behaviors is essential for creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere, as stimming can be subtle and not always noticeable.
At Cedar Cove Wellness, we provide Reiki for individuals of all ages as an energy-focused practice that honors personal movement, choice, and independence.
With Reiki, we focus on how the bodyโs energy feels. Stimming offers relief, emotional regulation, and sensory satisfaction, making it a valuable behavior for many individuals, particularly those who are neurodivergent. Reiki complements this wonderfully. Furthermore, Reiki can support regulation in neurodivergent children and adults.
Regular Reiki sessions can boost mood, reduce stress, enhance emotional resilience, and may improve sleep patterns by promoting relaxation and alleviating anxiety.
