Q & A - How often should I change my glasses?

Prescription Changes

Most people should update their glasses every 1–2 years. That’s typically how often your vision or prescription can change — especially if you notice:

• Blurry or strained vision
• Headaches or eye fatigue
• Difficulty seeing at night or focusing on screens

Frame Condition

Even if your prescription is fine, you might want to replace your glasses if:

• The frames are bent, loose, or uncomfortable
• The lenses are scratched or the coating is wearing off
• You just want a style refresh (fashion counts too!)

Bonus Tip

OHIP covers annual eye exams for children under 20, seniors 65+, and/or some adults with medical conditions like diabetes or glaucoma.

Many work benefits or private insurance plans cover routine exams — even if you don’t realize it’s included.
