I am accepting new clients heading into the fall, and would like to share some information on exactly what I strive for in working with your horses.

For those who do not know me well, I am an equine bodyworker.

During my 2 years of education through the Natural Touch Therapy Institute and the Equinology EQ100 program, I have learned and adapted a fuller meaning to the word “bodyworker”. Before starting this program, I had the impression that I would be massaging horses, or strictly dealing with the physical structure of the horse.
This is so far from my now practice. By working with many horses I have uncovered a new way of thinking, speaking, and listening to them.

I now address the physical side that, more often than not, has a different root contributed. By using my assessment tools and adapted communication skills I can address muscular and structural imbalances to relieve restrictions and help promote better muscle usage and function. This is a crucial part in attaining their best performance in my opinion. I firmly believe in treating the whole horse.

In my wholistic practice I address energetic, emotional, and mental aspects of these animals. I look into what may be unusual to some, but helpful in healing the whole horse. This includes chakra balancing, acupressure meridian clearing, emotional therapy, and clearing negative or trapped emotions.

Send me a message with any questions about my services or to book, I am looking forward to connecting with you and your equine athletes🦄

🌾N U T R I T I O N🌾

Nutrition is one of my favourite elements of equine therapy. I believe it is a top factor that has an impact on a horse’s day to day living, comfort, and performance.

I use a tool called applied kinesiology, or muscle testing, to help determine which feeds and supplements are either needed or unwanted by the horse’s body on an energetic level. This works by asking the ”body” if it is stronger or weaker in the presence of a “stimulus” (certain grain, hay, supplement, herb, etc), and then asking if it is necessary or not for the body at the time. I also ask the amount, duration, and time(s) of day it should be fed.

Here are some of my favourite supplements that have shown success in some cases I have worked with.

ALOE: May help with digestive health, especially in reducing or preventing ulcers, by aiding in mucous and gastric acid production. Also an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial. Research has shown pain relieving and wound healing benefits.

TURMERIC: Anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial. Commonly fed to horses for lameness or arthritic issues and equine metabolic syndrome. One study conducted showed six horses with fetlock arthritis where three were placed on turmeric, and after 10 days all three horses appeared to be more mobile and have a better mood. The three horses who were not supplemented with turmeric did not appear to have a change in mobility or mood. Also cost effective!

OMEGA ALPHA HA-180: A hyaluronic acid supplement for joint health. Contains 180mg of HA, as well as 94mg of licorice root which can be helpful to the digestive system. This particular HA supplement has the highest dose of HA I have came across on the shelf, and was more cost effective than others. My own horse is currently on it after I had a concern about a stifle, and has appeared to show a difference in her joint movement after 10 days.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

*Supplementing does not replace veterinary care.
*Do your research on supplements! If buying a brand name supplement, I always read the ingredients and compare different labels to see the difference in quantities and how they compare to the price.
*Every horse is different, so what works for one may not work for the next.

Hope everyone is having a great long weekend💕

This beautiful mare, Capri, owned by Justice Heather, got a full body massage last week focusing on relieving a ton of muscle tension in the neck that is causing misalignment in the cervical spine and to increase intervertebral joint movement.
Her caudal thoracic region (low back) was tight as well, where I predominantly helped out her abdominal and intercostal muscles to aid in relieving back pain. Often times, back pain and/or tension is directly associated with rib or abdominal muscle imbalances.
I also worked on her hind end, where I found decreased tension compared to her last session, but still wanted to improve her range of motion in her legs.
She loved her session, and I can’t wait to see more progress! The last picture is an accurate representation of how shedding season is FULL ON and massage is a fantastic way to de-shed your horse😂😂

Thought I’d start it out by telling you a little bit about one of my favourite modalities; massage!

Massage is a great tool to maximize the performance quality of your equine athlete, or provide extra comfort to retired, elderly, companion, or pregnant horses.

Some of the benefits include:
* Pain relief
* Injury prevention
* Stress relief
* Adds tone to muscles
* Improves posture
* Increases circulation
* Increases flexibility and ROM
* Supports immune system

Another point to add is that massage partners excellent with chiropractic treatment and acupuncture, so when all three are used in a horse’s care regime together, they complement each other’s effectiveness to give you further results.

🧠Did you know that you are actually massaging your horse every time you brush them? Besides removing dirt, giving your horse a good brushing is helping out their body as well.

🧠Did you know that in a perfect world, a performance horse in full work should be massaged weekly to manage post-workout soreness and stress? I’m sure I speak for more than just myself when I say I would LOVE a weekly massage too! For most horse owners, this large volume of treatments is just not feasible. This is why I try to give owners “homework”, such as stretches, under saddle exercises, in hand exercises, or basic massage moves to help bridge the gap in between treatments in a schedule that best suits the client.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out and I will do my best to answer!

Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone!
My name is Milla Nadeau, and I am currently going to school for Equine Sport Therapy at the Natural Touch Therapy Institute.

A little bit about myself⬇️
I have been involved with horses since I was a toddler, and I always wanted a way to combine my passion with my career. I have mainly ridden English, with a strong dressage background and plenty of time spent jumping, but have recently started working on a few western disciplines as well. I own an 11 year old Arabian mare named Luna, and a 20ish year old miniature donkey named Donkey, who are the best of friends and both thoroughly enjoy taking advantage of my schooling. I also have a strong passion for art when I have the time for it! I love the journey of education around horses and horse therapy, and plan to learn about many different healing modalities in the future.

A little bit about my program⬇️
I am about a quarter of the way through the two year certified equine sport therapist program, and I am absolutely loving it. I have learned a variety of assessment and healing techniques such as massage, energy work, applied kinesiology, ROM assessment, stretching, saddle fit, and aromatherapy. I am excited to be adding to this list regularly with much much more to learn throughout the program.
Each month I am required to complete 20 “case studies”, which involves performing 20 different treatments and recording what I did. My service prices reflect this, as I need lots of horses to work on as well as a variety of experience to make me the best I can be!

I will be posting some information soon about some of the techniques I use and how they can help your horse, so stay tuned😊 Message, text, email, or call with any questions or to book an appointment!
