YOU ARE NOT WEIRD. YOU ARE MAGICAL.

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world, but then I thought, there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels flawed and bizarr
e in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this, know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.”

Stress Relieving Breath Practice

For this short practice you will probably want to find a quiet, sound-proof place (unless you are very unselfconscious and essentially don't give a rat's ass what people think of you).

1) Lie on your back, either knees bent or straight. Let your body relax.

2) Feel your breath. At first just let it flow on its own without changing it.

3) Take your time. Begin to inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. Breathe deep and slow and smooth.

4) Now inhale through the nose and exhale through your mouth with a sigh. Let your exhale be audible.

5) Continue to let your exhale be audible. Make as much or as little noise as you want. Change the pitch of the sound that comes out (low sound, high sound, etc). Play around - change the force of your exhale, the length of your exhale, breathe into your chest, breathe into your belly. Experiment. Laughing is okay too.

6) When you start to get tired, let your breath settle and flow on its own. Then take a moment to just lie there.

Without mobility around the shoulders, many actions of daily living—not to mention sports—are limited, and tightness around the shoulders, especially in the front, compounds the hunch that develops as we sit at desks and steering wheels. Building on the stretches for throwing and serving, ...
