The Cochrane & Area Humane Society provides food, shelter, medical care and the opportunity for adoption for unwanted, surrendered, lost and unclaimed animals, while promoting responsible pet ownership through educational programs, rural spay/neuter programs and public fundraising events. Lost pets are reunited with their guardians and the Society creates humane education programs to promote responsible pet guardianship. Children participate in Day Camps and victims of domestic violence are helped through the Pet Safe Program. Each year thousands of people call or come through our doors to surrender, adopt, claim lost pets, volunteer, seek advice, training or assistance, utilize our resource centre, attend humane education programs or make donations. We take in approximately 1,100 animals every year and are happy that we are able to successfully place or return home over 90% of them.

This new workshop series will help you work with your dog through these issues with a program tailored to you, your dog, and your family.

You will work directly with a Certified Canine Behaviour Consultant and an assistant in multiple sessions to help you gain skills to ensure the best outcome for you and your dog. A neutral dog (unique to this program) will be provided to assist you and your dog with out-and-about real-life situations and to practice the skills you learn.

Meet Lily!

Lily (Aka Princess Lily) is a sweet, gentle lady who just needs a little time to shine.

Once she gets to know you, she adores her people and happily accepts all the love (and snacks!) you have to offer. Treats are definitely the way to her heart.

Lily would do best in a home with another confident dog to help her continue building her confidence. She’s looking for a calmer household with kids 15 and up, as younger children can be a bit overwhelming for her.

Happy Tail Update: Moca aka Mr. Nice Guy 🐾

What began as a new beginning has quickly turned into a life full of love, cuddles, and coffee snuggles.

Now lovingly known as “Moca,” Moca has fully settled into his forever home, claiming favorite nap spots, showing off his hilarious sleeping positions, and keeping the household entertained with his playful energy and surprise zoomies.

His adopter says he asks for cuddle time morning, afternoon, and night, and has become the perfect mix of affectionate companion, playful entertainer, and tiny ruler of the home 🥹
