10 Everyday Physio Tips for a Healthier, Happier Body
1️⃣ Listen to your body
Pain is your body’s way of telling you something isn’t right. Don’t ignore persistent pain — get it checked early to avoid bigger issues later.
2️⃣ Move often, even if it’s gentle
Long hours of sitting stiffen muscles and joints. Try to stand, stretch, or walk every 30–45 minutes, even if it’s just for a minute.
3️⃣ Prioritize posture
Small changes — like adjusting your chair, keeping screens at eye level, and sitting tall — help reduce neck and back strain throughout the day.
4️⃣ Warm up before activity
Whether it’s the gym, gardening, or a long walk, warm-up exercises prepare your muscles and joints, helping prevent injuries.
5️⃣ Strengthen your core
A strong core supports your spine, improves balance, and reduces the risk of lower back pain. Even a few minutes daily makes a difference.
6️⃣ Stretch regularly
Stretching keeps muscles flexible and helps you recover faster from workouts or daily strain. Focus on major muscle groups like hamstrings, calves, and shoulders.
7️⃣ Focus on balance
Simple balance exercises (like standing on one leg) help prevent falls, especially as we age. Try them barefoot at home for an extra challenge.
8️⃣ Stay hydrated
Muscles, tendons, and joints function better when your body is well-hydrated. Aim for regular water breaks, not just when you feel thirsty.
9️⃣ Don’t rush recovery
Healing takes time. Follow your physio’s plan, even if you start to feel better early — skipping steps can lead to setbacks.
🔟 Keep moving as you age
Exercise isn’t just for the young. Gentle strength training, walking, or swimming help keep joints healthy and maintain independence.
