Motion in Sync We help people bridge the gap between Injury Rehabilitation, Improved Quality of life and Performance

Life and Sport don’t happen in a straight line. In sport or life we are hardly ever “feet hip width apart, looking straight ahead - so called perfectly positioned:

You twist
Reach

Step
Carry

Change Speed
React.
Change direction.

…and in many cases a combination of these.

So it would make sense that your rehabilitation or training should prepare you for that.

Over the next week or so you will start seeing some faces around Motion in Sync. First I want to officially welcome Jayde Cadieux! She will be an extremely valuable member of our team this summer. Jayde will be involved in all aspects of our services but particularly in our Sports Performance Programs:

Here is what she has to say:

Hi, I’m Jayde Cadieux. I recently completed my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with Honours, and I’ve had the privilege of playing university hockey with the U of S Huskies over the past four years. Sport and movement have always been a big part of my life, and outside of hockey I enjoy staying active through mini adventures like hiking and biking, playing slow pitch, and spending time on the water.

I’m passionate about helping others move well and feel their best. One of the things I love most about Motion in Sync is the opportunity to meet new people, build connections, and support members as they work toward their goals. It’s incredibly rewarding to see their progress and to be part of their journey toward becoming the best version of themselves.

I’m especially excited to be more involved with the Teen Sports Performance Programs this year, supporting athletes as they develop confidence, build a strong foundation for long-term success and of course having fun!

Can’t wait to meet and see all of you!

When we examine various sports, the ability to decelerate movement and then rapidly produce force to change direction is an essential skill.

An inability to stop and change direction efficiently is associated with a higher risk of injury (e.g., non-contact ACL tears).

This is a trainable quality and one of the most important for both performance and resilience. We dedicate a significant amount of time to developing this capacity in our clients and athletes.

Assessment Equipment Feature: Vald Forcedecks:

The ForceDecks measure ground reaction forces. How much and how well you put force into the ground to move away from the ground or slow you down when you move towards the ground.

The countermovement jump is a common test.
But it’s just one option.

We can also assess:

* Lower body strength, power, and asymmetries (various jump and isometric tests)
* Single-leg capacity and balance
* Landing force absorption and production

And importantly — upper body function as well:

* Push-up variations to assess force production and symmetry
* Shoulder strength and stability in different positions
* How well you transfer force through the upper body into the ground

Same system. Different setups. Broader insight.

What this actually tells us

* How much force you produce
* How fast you produce it
* Left vs right imbalances
* How you control and absorb force
* Where movement breaks down under load or speed
* How well and how fast you transition between absorbing and producing force

This gives us a clear picture of how your system is functioning, your goto patterns to produce certain movements and so much more.

Why we’ve invested in this level of assessment

We don’t guess.

This is part of how we:

* Establish a true baseline
* Identify compensations and weak links
* Guide what we train and how we progress
* Track objective improvements
* Make better return-to-sport / return-to-life decisions

We’ve made a deliberate investment in high-level assessment tools like this — and continue to do so — because better data leads to better decisions.

And better decisions lead to better outcomes for our clients.

Because “feeling ready” isn’t the same as being ready.

Today was a bitter sweet day for me. I am so happy for Chelsea and Matt as they are expecting there 2nd child and she heads on MAT leave. On the other hand she has become such an integral part of what Motion in Sync is about, our philosophy and where we are heading and I know her presence will be missed immensely.

I want to wish her and Matt all the best over the next few weeks and months.

I truly want to thank Chelsea for all that she has meant to me and Motion in Sync and our clients over the years. Depending on what life has planned, I hope to see her back with us again in the future!

As Adults, Life gets busy and even chaotic at times. Work gets crazy, you are running your kids to all of their sports and activities, you have things and people demanding your attention!!! You wonder when you ever could have time to put yourself first, look after your own health…… You know you need to because you start feeling the aches and pains, uncomfortable in your own body, movement becomes more challenging, stress overwhelms you, you lack energy…..

I am here to tell you through my own experience and nearly 20 years of experience working in this industry that consistency doesn’t need to be perfect to be effective.

Start small! 10, 20 or 30 minutes a couple times per week can make a huge difference. Block out times for only you, make sure everyone knows that is your times for YOU.

Consistency doesn’t need to be perfect to be effective. But, you need to start, start today! Because one day you will wish that you did.
