This post from The Workout Witch really spoke to me. This is literally the entire baseline for where my practice is heading. Helping clients rediscover their balance, creating a safe space for them to challenge the protective sides of their nervous system, and teach their bodies to feel safe again is the core of why I became a healer. The path isn’t easy and it can come with discomfort, but the long term benefits of helping your body process the material it is holding onto are many.

If you’re curious about what a treatment with me looks like, contact Elevation Health and come in for an Initial Assessment. I can’t wait to help you fall in love with taking care of yourself!

FACT: Bodies are so cool!!

Most people don’t realize your jaw and pelvis are linked. Not just through posture or movement habits, but through your developmental blueprint.

Around day 15 of embryonic development, two critical areas begin to form: the oropharyngeal membrane, which becomes the mouth, and the cloacal membrane, which becomes the openings of the digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems.

The spine grows between them establishing a physical and neurological connection that lasts your entire life.
This connection continues through fascia and the central nervous system. The dural tube, which surrounds and protects the spinal cord, creates a continuous communication pathway from your jaw down to your sacrum.

When there’s tension or misalignment in the jaw whether from clenching, TMJ dysfunction, or altered bite it changes head posture. Your body compensates to keep balance, often by tilting the pelvis or shifting your weight.

Over time, these small changes can show up as chronic hip pain, pelvic instability, or forward head posture.
There’s also a functional link: the jaw and pelvic floor are both involved in how your body stabilizes the spine. They’re part of your core system.

If your jaw is clenched, chances are your pelvic floor is either overactive or not firing properly. This affects posture, breath control, and how your nervous system regulates tension.

Posture isn’t just a matter of standing tall. It’s a full-body coordination between systems that started forming before you were even born.

What a powerful message and I couldn’t agree more!

Some of my favourite clients are kids - young athletes who are already in dysfunction or states of injury, littles who developed a-typical movement patterns that are affecting their ability to do what they want to do and young ones with tummy troubles or sleeping concerns.

Our bodies are designed to be in motion. Sedentariness - no matter what position you’re in - is terrible for our joints and regulatory systems long term. That’s why it’s so important that EVERYONE MOVE THEIR BODIES all throughout the day. However, our current way of living fails to provide us with the proper knowledge on how our bodies are meant to move (which is different for different anatomical body types and hormonal genders).

This is where Motion in Sync’s programming is probably my favourite. It’s not about how you look, it’s about how you move and making sure you can continue to move well for your entire life. THIS is what we all needed to learn at a young age: to prioritize our health and function as much as our education.

When it comes to Youth we have normalized the wrong things.

Youth sitting hunched over an iPad for hours?
Playing video games for 4+ hours a day with poor posture, shallow breathing, and zero movement?
Totally fine. No one bats an eye.

But a supervised, professionally designed 45-minute resistance training session?
“That’s dangerous!”
“Isn’t that bad for their growth plates?”
“They’re too young for that!”

Let’s be real:
What’s more dangerous long-term—learning to move well, build strength, and develop healthy habits…
Or years of inactivity, poor posture, and a nervous system wired only for screen time?

At Motion in Sync, our youth programs are not about turning kids into bodybuilders.
They’re about:
✅ Building coordination
✅ Learning movement control
✅ Developing confidence
✅ Reducing risk of injury in sport and life
✅ Setting up long-term athletic development and health

It’s time we stop fearing resistance training and start questioning what we’ve accepted as “normal.”

I ❤️ my clients 🥹

I don’t always get to see the results of our treatments the same way that you do. I see the small changes in your anatomy, the improved mechanics as you make your way into the treatment space, the lack of limp or guarding in your gait or maybe the relaxed way you have a seat this time vs last. When you share the impact on your day to day it’s so humbling and makes me so grateful to be trusted to work with you.

✨ Client Testimony ✨

This testimony speaks to more than just pain relief, it’s about trust, compassion, and whole-person healing.

Nikki Froning’s work in Manual Osteopathic Therapy is about more than technique; it’s about meeting people where they are, helping them feel seen, and supporting them in their physical and emotional recovery.

We're incredibly grateful for this client sharing their journey.
✨ “It felt like having a hot bowl of stew after a long, cold day—deeply comforting and exactly what I needed.”
