Update on the repeal of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture act.

The Ministry of Labour says this is about increasing access for TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioners, many of whom are new immigrants and may face language barriers and other issues. These are important issues of discrimination that can be addressed most effectively by the college, through the implementation of multilingual competency exams (such as those in place in BC).

This can be done whilst continuing to uphold standards of care and practice within the profession.

The government has proposed de regulating Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine, that is the dissolution of the professional College.

This will put standard of care and practice in great jeopardy.

Please visit change.org, search for ‘stop de regulation of Chinese medicine acupuncture’ & have a read. Add your name to the petition if it resonates with you.

Never imagined back to work quite like this. but here we are.

I know you’re tired
and it’s a whole heck of a lot.
I know how you miss your people & faces & places where you can roam carefree.

*GRAND OPENING*
There has been no traditional “grand opening” of the clinic due to cursed covid. However, with each person that walks through the door, the place comes alive a little more, expands a little more, & is filled with good energy - and that IS grand! Thank you Town of Collingwood & hats off to you Mayor Brian Saunderson.

-THANK YOU to my gym CHALK’s, that put me through my paces, helped me work off the stress and kept me strong during this entire process. Without it I surely would have turned into a monster!
-A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to my colleagues in the town of Collingwood, skilled healthcare practitioners & therapists, who have reached out with their ongoing support: delivered flowers on opening week, helped to broadcast my office re opening, & sent referrals - YOU ALL ROCK. I’m glad to be back & an active part of Collingwood’s healthcare community! I LOVE what I do!
-THANK YOU to my online writers group that meets every month. You have been an outlet for the madness that comes of rebuilding a business from the ground up and gave me a place for my words to land.
-MY FINAL GRATITUDE goes to my cousin J.A.K. (a brother to me) who died in January when he was just starting to live. Designing my new clinic was the last thing he did. He was a skilled artisan & designer and believed in creating beautiful, functional spaces, for people to enjoy. He told me the place would ‘SING’ and he was right.
The place is full of heart!

I look forward to connecting with all of you, over the coming months & giving you the tour.

-THANK YOU mostly to my patients for trusting me with sharp pointy things & for generously sharing a slice of your lives with me. You are my greatest teachers!
-THANK YOU TOO, for your ongoing patience over these past 8 months, while the clinic was being built. It was a long & unpredictable wait - but it is AMAZING to see your faces again! Like coming home :)
-THANK YOU to Eastwood Construction who showed up every. single. day. and tackled every challenge with good spirits & great skill (even during tornado warnings!). I knew I could trust you 💯. Collaboration is magic. If you are building, YOU WANT THESE GUYS DOING IT! I miss you already. You need to swing by & make some noise!
-THANK YOU to everyone at the Town of Collingwood offices that facilitated & processed my applications and permits & helped me jump through hoops - even to those who didn’t - you unknowingly fuelled my determination to get the job done & stretched my patience, in itself a gift (even if you heard quiet cursing from down on Fifth street at the time!).
-THANK YOU to my entire family whose unrelenting support, especially on hard days, helped me to carry on. You made me laugh, took care of my son, fed me, gave me perspective. ESPECIALLY to my mom who is forever a steady presence & with me every step of the way! & my father, who’s voice kept nudging me forward.
-THANK YOU to my teenage son who has put up with my passionate planning & plotting for the last 8 months. And now goes to bed earlier as I return to work.
-THANK YOU to my friends who checked in on me regularly to ensure my sanity was still intact & patched me together when it wasn’t. Who got me out of the house, visited on my front porch, listened to my rants. & told me to get on with it - & chase my dreams!
