“Not just about the wild animals… but the food, too! 🦒🍔 Hands down, *the best* burger I’ve ever had, and don’t get me started on the wild game platter—hello kudu stew! Traditional African bush cuisine at its finest in Kruger, and every bite was an adventure for the taste buds. 🍽️✨

The flavors were so bold and vibrant, I cannot wait to try create them at home for my daughters to get a taste of this experience!

Going to Kruger today and fingers crossed!

Here is some history:

The Big Five animals comprise of Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo.
The lion and leopard are the predators of the bunch, who hunt with unmatched grace and stealth, while the majestic elephant is larger than life with gleaming tusks and a large trunk. The buffalo is the unruly, unpredictable herbivore that can usually be seen with its herd, and the stocky rhino can be found lazily munching on the grass near the dense trees of the Kruger Park.

What a day in Dubai!

Started the morning right: hired a private driver because who has time to waste when there’s so much to explore?

First stop:
Hubby hit the slopes... yes, you read that right. 45°C outside, -6°C on the hills. HE SKIED IN DUBAI!

Second stop:
Burj Al Arab. One word: opulence. Enough said.

Third stop:
Dubai Frame. At first, I thought, “Meh?” But when you get up close—wow! A reminder of the city’s roots, but it’s all about the future here.

Fourth stop:
Marina Walk. It’s basically a game of “Whose yacht is bigger?”

Finally, back to The Palace for some well-deserved R&R by the pool-our day was perfection and so excited about how we are spending our last night in Dubai❤️🥂

A beautiful mini holiday with my beautiful daughter ❤️

The highlight? A day of pure luxury at the spa, where we indulged in pampering and spoiling ourselves, followed by a delightful Emily Carr High Tea at the renowned Fairmont Vancouver.

Living far away makes these curated experiences even more precious. These memories become a treasure trove to revisit on those days when we miss each other the most.

The hotel’s:



The most important part.. the food:
had the best vegan food
had delicious breakfast
with fabulous brunch and accommodation
had a beautiful and delicious intimate sharing plating.. don’t leave without trying one of their pizzas!

The Love Affair Started…Who knew our anniversary getaway would make me fall even more in love with my husband—and unexpectedly with Elora Mill & Spa? From the moment we arrived, warmly greeted by the team at the gate, to every friendly hello from staff members passing by, we felt like VIPs.

The space was spotless, radiating elegance and meticulous care. Dining was a divine experience, with each meal offering a delightful journey of flavours. The magical setting added to the romance, making every moment feel extraordinary.

The spa and pool area were our personal sanctuary. We could have stayed there all day, enjoying the tranquillity and luxurious ambiance.

This getaway was more than just a vacation; it was a reconnection in the most beautiful settings. We’ll definitely be back to continue our dual love affair with each other and with Elora Mill & Spa!

We love a fresh summer salad:

Recipe:

Pour yourself a glass of vino cause this recipe is so easy, you won’t have to concentrate🥂🥂

Ingredients
4 larger ears fresh corn, shucked
1 heaping cup halved grape tomatoes
1 cup diced English cucumber
1/3 cup diced red onion
2/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
3 Top finely chopped fresh parsley.
2 Tbsp finely chopped fresh basil

Dressing
1/4 cup olive oil
1 1/2 Tbsp red wine vinegar
1 Tbsp lemon juice
11/2 tsp honey
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp each salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method:

1) Boil corn for 5 minutes and once cool cut corn from the cob.

2) Toss all salad ingredients together except the basil

3) Whisk all dressing ingredients together

4) Just before serving, toss dressing and salad together and add basil to the top of the salad

5) Voila done…pour yourself another glass of vino as you have outdone yourself with this salad🤣

Extra added deliciousness:

1) Make the day before and refrigerate as I loved how the flavours came together overnight.

2) I added 1 heaping teaspoon of Dijon Mustard to the dressing and 1/8 cup more red wine vinegar . I like the tang!
