Shoutout to all my “more is more!” people … I *love* your enthusiasm.

But also, please remember:

Your body doesn’t actually get stronger or leaner during the workout.

It happens while you’re resting. While you’re recovering.

While you’re doing… LESS.

If you’re always “on,” eventually your body will tap out.

In fact, recovery is a key part of the process!

✅ Take at least one true rest day.
✅ Eat enough to support your body, especially protein.
✅ Make sleep a non-negotiable.

Your progress depends on it.

What’s going on in your gut impacts everything… your energy, your mood, your skin, and even your cravings.

That’s because around 70% of your immune system lives in your gut, and when inflammation flares there, it can affect your whole body.

And if you’re someone who’s been dealing with low energy, stubborn weight, or unpredictable symptoms,, your gut might be trying to get your attention.

The next time you feel the aftermath of a “party” in your gut from a weekend of takeout or a stretch of poor sleep and high stress...

Your body feels it.

Here’s what I recommend:

Scan your body for symptoms and then, instead of regretting your choices, drink some water, take a short walk, and focus on your next meal being simple, whole, and easy on your system.

✅ This is NOT about being “perfect” or punishing yourself.

Instead, it’s about giving your body what it needs to function at its very best.

It’s so easy to fall into comparisons, especially when you’re scrolling IG as a tired, overwhelmed woman over 40 who is trying everything to get her fitness and energy back in check.

You see someone meal prepping perfectly portioned meals or posting their 5 am workouts like it’s no big deal..

And suddenly you’re questioning if you’re doing enough.

👉 But here’s the reminder: You’re not in a race with anyone else.

The only version you’re measuring against:

The YOU from last week.

Last month.

Last year.

✅ Are you showing up more often than you used to?
✅ Are you making different choices than the old you would’ve made?
✅ Are you handling hard days differently than you would’ve six months ago

That’s what REAL progress looks like.

Here are three I always come back to:

📖 How To Eat, Move, & Be Healthy, by Paul Chek. Basically, everything you need to know to get your guts, organs, muscles and joints, healthy and fit, in an easy to understand, personalized guide.
📖 How To Get What You Want and Want Want What You Have, by John Gray is a straight forward guide to figuring out what’s holding you back and how to feel good while going after what you really want in life.
📖 The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz: An easy read. reminder to keep things simple and clear with myself and others.

These always seem to meet me where I’m at. Whether I’m helping clients with fat loss, strength, or just trying to be more present in everyday life.

Everyone talks about the “before and after.”

The truth is, getting into shape isn’t a straight shot from Point A to Point B…

Especially if you’re a busy woman juggling work, home, and trying to make time for yourself, just getting a workout in or planning one solid meal with enough protein can feel like a win.

If you’ve ever heard of the term “messy middle”... it’s usually more like that :-)

The more realistic (and rewarding) picture is that your journey is made up of lots of little steps.

Every step…even the ones that feel like detours… holds a lesson.

And when you learn how to course correct along the way, you start to build:

→ Self-trust
→ Resilience

Confession: the other day, I felt tired and “out of sorts".

Maybe it was a rough night of sleep...

Maybe it was not enough food for my activities...

Either way, I wasn’t feeling great.

But I still had clients to coach and family commitments after work. Life doesn’t pause just because you’re dragging.

So here’s what I do on days like that:

✅ Step outside for five minutes of fresh air
✅ I drink a big glass of water
✅ I turn on some fun music
It’s not perfect. But it helps.

And when you stack the small stuff, it makes a big difference.

Your body could be trying to tell you something…

And the sooner you start paying attention, the easier it is to feel better.

Here’s where I have clients start:

→ Add more real food (protein, veggies, healthy fats — not just bars and snacks)
→ Get more rest .... even 30 minutes of extra sleep makes a difference
→ Swap out one drink that’s not serving you
→ Move a little more (no gym required)

Start with one thing. Keep it simple. Build from there.
