Less than a 5 minute drive from home to this amazing forest beside the Coquitlam River. The goodies along the trail include oso berry, wild lettuce, huckleberry, elderberry, all of which I'd walk by blindly, until today. Thanks to my guide, Carl Ronka The beautiful prize at the end of the trail was Crystal Falls.

Love is an interesting word, and collectively it's been undergoing a dismantling + redefining process. Love, it turns out, is subjective and there are many ways to show love.
Doing nothing is an act of love.
Making something for someone is an act of love.
Doing something for someone is act of love
Buying something for someone is an act of love.
Cooking is an act of love.
Rescuing is an act of love.
Telling the truth is an act of love.
Telling a lie is an act of love....

If an act of love is misinterpreted, the other person can feel invalidated, betrayed, disempowered and even unloved. It's ironic! But true.

So I offer you this - love yourself first. See how that feels. Then let everything you do next be from that place - how your act of love is received is really up to the other person and their definition of love. At least you will know that your intention was to show love ❤

My experiences as a highly sensitive person:

1. Able to detect subtle changes in facial expression, pupil dilation and body language, which translates into knowing if something is 'off'.

2. Able to detect whether the words a person speaks line up with their real feelings. In other words, can spot a lie.

3. Despite the above, always give others the benefit of the doubt believing a shift can happen in a microsecond.

4 . Eager to help and ease the burden of others, an intention that can easily be misinterpreted as lacking boundaries, disrespectful of others' boundaries, or robbing others of their own crucial lessons.

5. Need an ordered environment because chaos can quickly bring on feelings of overwhelm.

6. Get bored easily. Always curious, asking questions, wanting to go deeper, love variety.

7. Deep feeler, deep thinker, with a Costco size crayon box spectrum of emotions while most have the standard Crayola 12 pack.

8. Prefer a few intimate relationships with people I know really well, and feel challenged to hold casual, light conversations. I always want to go deeper.

9. Crave connection, unity, community, understanding and reciprocity.

10. Self-regulating is difficult. Strong desire to give the whole of myself and be honest and truthful all the time.

11. Due to #10 I trust easily - after all you're just like me, right? 😊 Only 20% are and it's shocking that 80% of the world isn't like us.

12. Highly developed right brain so prone to empathy and intuition, seeing and perceiving what others cannot, which drives left brain people crazy.

13. Able to get to the truth like a laser so I don't have much of a bedside manner, because it just seems so obvious to me.

14. Highly resistant to labels. They're confining and inaccurate because they're based on 5 sensory psychology and science, which tend to not include mystical, spiritual realities. We are so much more than our bodies!

15. I can be too much and not enough to some people when all I really am is just more.

Maybe you can relate.

A few simple things to do to affirm life and instill hope for the future of our planet:

• pick up litter
• plant flowers, a shrub, a tree, a garden
• say a prayer for the next generation
• make your bed
• savor something
• stand barefoot in the grass or sand or water
• make a promise
• believe in something bigger than yourself
• follow a path in the woods just to see where it goes
• plan and create a really delicious meal
• start a collection
• breathe so deeply you can feel your rib cage expand
• look at out your window, at a whatever is there, and smile
• put your hand over your heart and feel it pumping
• remember a song that you always sing along to
• imagine something amazing happening
• light a candle for someone you love

There's always some little thing we can do to move energy in the direction we want things to go. What do you do?

Long story...as a big believer in Believing, I thought I'd share this recent experience.

Months ago I kidded with Frank (kinda sorta) that I'd love to keep my treasured '06 Jeep Commander and, to make a real statement, get it painted turquoise. Favourite colour, I love anything turquoise, including my butter dish.

We've had troubles with my precious Jeep, now 15 years old with 339,150+ km on it. It has been my home on wheels, it has been my protector, my quiet salvation, my "other room". I love my Jeep.

The starter is finicky. I’ve had it towed twice to the service guys to get it resolved, but still, it's not reliable. Today, after 30 plus tries to get it started, it wouldn't go. I was at the pharmacy in a tiny parking lot in Port Moody at the time. I called BCAA to get it towed, and so to make sure the truck had enough space, I loitered in the spot behind my vehicle for an hour and half, making sure no one parked there. Some (most) people understood; one in a dozen not so much.

We just bought a Jeep Cherokee in January so the prospects of buying a second vehicle so soon had my creative financial juices flowing.

I checked in a couple times with Frank (aka hubby) to keep him posted. After an hour and half of waiting for the tow truck, mulling over how we'd finance a new vehicle, I tried my precious Jeep one more time. It started!! The 31st time is indeed the charm! I called Frank then drove directly to the service dept. in Coquitlam. They took my key and graciously gave me a rental to drive until they can figure out ( finally?) what is going on. And they handed me the keys to - you guessed it - a TURQUOISE JEEP.

I cannot emphasize this enough. Know your darkness to get to your light. We need both to achieve balance.

Understanding our own fears, and the behaviors we use to offset fear in hopes of demonstrating love, reveal a deeper soul pattern and our purpose for being here. We experience fear so we can peel back the layers to find at our core a desire to love and be loved. A soul that operates with love has met its purpose.

If, however, fear perpetuates, is not investigated and love is not discovered in the unraveling of the behavior, it remains "an engine of development". Many more opportunities will present themselves in order to understand fear, to befriend them and to be grateful for them. And yes, love them for the soul lessons they bring.
