I'm SO excited to be back working with the reformer! 🙌 Starting Thursdays 7am-12pm, I'm offering movement + massage appointments - and I can't wait to show you what's possible when we combine both approaches.

That shoulder that's been bothering you? That knee that feels 'off'? Before you write it off as 'just getting older' or having a 'bad' joint, let's explore what's really going on. Often, it's not about having faulty parts - it's about learning to move more efficiently and addressing the underlying patterns.

This isn't a fitness class or weight loss program. This is about helping YOUR body move in the most efficient, pain-free way possible. Let's work it out together and see how amazing you can feel!

Sido Adamson's core workout changed my entire practice 🤯

For the longest time, I couldn't properly activate my lower abdominals - every time I tried, my lats would take over or my back would extend.

Then my aerials coach taught me this seated rounded shoulder press with a band, and everything clicked.

The band around my low ribs reminds me to stay in spinal flexion while I do shoulder movements. Right arm, left arm, then both together.

The key? Keeping my low ribs and belly button pulling toward my spine while breathing deeply, WITHOUT any extension through my lower back.

Here's why this works: Many people have lost the neurological connection to their lower abs entirely. Traditional exercises miss this because the positioning isn't right.

But spinal flexion combined with shoulder movement? It creates the perfect setup to actually FEEL your lower abs engage in a way that other exercises miss.

This is what I mean when I say sometimes the most effective 'core work' doesn't look like traditional core work at all ✨

Now I use variations of this with my patients who can't connect to their lower abs. Game changer.

Anyone else struggle to actually feel their lower abs working? This might be your answer. Give it a try and let me know how you feel!

Night sweats keeping you up? 💦

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, waking up drenched in sweat often points to kidney yin deficiency. Watch to learn the signs: night sweats, 'five center heat' (warm palms, feet, and chest), afternoon flushing, plus knee and low back issues.

The good news? Acupuncture can address both the root cause AND give you immediate relief with specific anti-sweating points. Sweet dreams ahead! 😴

I'll be honest - for the first 6 years of practice, I was missing something huge 🤦‍♀️

When Maria came in with back pain that wasn't responding to months of perfect core exercises, I had to ask myself: 'How often do we assess diaphragmatic function before prescribing core exercises?'

The answer? Almost never.

Here's what I learned that changed everything: Your breathing patterns tell me more about why your back hurts than your plank strength ever will.

My therapy world is evolving, and this shift means better, faster results for you ✨

Ever wonder why your therapist watches you breathe? Now you know 💭

Questions about your care? Always feel free to ask!

We all have this patient (and honestly, we ARE this patient) 🙋‍♀️

They work 8+ hours at a desk, maybe they're a parent constantly holding kids, maybe they rock climb or swim - always in that protracted forward position.

So we do what we're trained to do: get them face down, treat the posterior chain - QL, glutes, hamstrings, erectors. They get off the table and... nothing changes. Or maybe 2-3 days of relief, then back to square one.

Here's what changed my practice: Get that patient face UP. Have them take their arms overhead with legs on the floor.

If their back immediately arches off the floor, maybe the back pain isn't from the QL or erectors. Maybe it's from the LATS.

Have you considered treating your patient supine?

Starting from the lateral anterior edges and pushing deep into the lats that way?

This approach works SO well for me. If you can't feel it, try having them do a modified bird dog while keeping their back pressed to the floor and belly button pulled toward spine - all while breathing.

Try this and let me know if it changes your patient's back pain. I bet it will ✨

📍 MY HOT TAKE: NON-COMPETE CLAUSES 📍
As a clinic owner on a very busy street with many, many other clinics:

✨ EVERY PRACTITIONER HAS A RIGHT TO EARN MONEY
In the city they live in
Without driving more than 20 minutes
There's literally a clinic on every block!

✨ PATIENTS DESERVE ACCESS
If one of my practitioners works mornings here but evenings somewhere else, and a patient can only come evenings without taking time off work - they absolutely should be able to see that practitioner in the evening!

✨ THE BOTTOM LINE:
Practitioners deserve the freedom to work where and when they need to, and patients deserve access to the care they want, when they can get it.

That's my hot take. Is that an unp[opular opinion?

What are your thoughts on non-compete clauses? 👇

How my assessment questions completely changed in 5 years 🔄

5 years ago I'd ask: 'What are you doing for fitness? What's your exercise routine? How's your mental health around movement?'

Now? I've learned that what your body shows me is way more telling than what you tell me.

Instead of asking about your workout routine, I'm observing: Can you breathe into your low ribs? Where does your diaphragm actually live when you're just lying there naturally?

Most people have restrictions through their diaphragm - whether from exercise patterns or anxiety - and that's what's really driving their back pain.
So now my questions sound like: 'Can I work on your belly? Can I work on your back through the front of your body? Do you mind if I work on the front of your hips... to treat your low back pain?'

I know it sounds weird to ask about working on your front body for back pain, but your body tells the real story about what needs attention.

This shift in how I assess has completely changed my patients' results ✨

What questions do you wish your therapist would ask? Drop them below!

The research that just dropped has completely changed how I approach back pain 📊

Studies are showing remarkable results when breathing is addressed alongside core training.

Here's what caught my attention: When therapists added diaphragmatic breathing exercises to traditional core work, patients saw:

✨ Significantly improved pain scores
✨ Better disability measures
✨ Enhanced sleep quality
✨ More effective muscle activation

This isn't just theory - it's peer-reviewed evidence that's shifting my practice.

As someone committed to evidence-based care, this research confirms what I'm seeing clinically: the foundation matters more than I thought.

What does this mean for you? Your next treatment with me might look different then you expect - and that's exciting news for your recovery 🙌

Questions about how research guides your care? I love talking about this stuff!
